What kind of amounts of crosstalk are people measuring? It's fairly complex, because we're talking about two entirely different types of signals, and the subsequent effects that they have when bleeding across channels (or within a channel). Really, it's beyond the scope of our simple (and admittedl...

how does that happen? (in dumbass terms please) I'll do my best to keep it simple, but I'm assuming you know ohm's law. It typically happens like this: The digital circuit pulls current from a power supply that is also shared with an analog circuit. The current draw causes the supply to move with e...

Maybe 'RME'.... I haven't listen to them but I hear they do very well. I don't think so. They're really more of a 'mid-grade' converter. They sport the same crappy 4580-based line stage as a Behringer console, and their clock jitter is higher than the Apogee. the guy told me that the lynx aurora he...

Black Lion Audio is looking for intern

Hello all-- We've got tons of stuff on our hands these days, and we're having a hard time keeping up. We're looking for someone here in Chicago to join us. We'd prefer it if you have a working knowledge of audio equipment as well as a grasp of electronic components. The position is part time to star...

I'd love to give a review on my Black Lion Modded SMPro PR8 but they still have it! Ahem...well, yes...sorry about that. These are pretty labor intensive modifications, and lately they end up taking a bit longer than we initially predicted they would. But trust me--you'll be quite pleased with it w...

FS: MOTU 828mk2 w/Black Lion Modification

I have a spare 828mk2 that's been sitting around here taking up space. It has the full analog and clock modifications. It has a couple of scratches on the rack ears, and one small scratch on the faceplate, but it's in otherwise great physical condition. The mic preamps are extra fast and transparent...

In the past I have had countless clocking problems with the OO2. Everything is configured correctly but sometimes I still get little clicks as if my clocking was out of sync. This is more common than you'd think, and it can be caused by all sorts of things. I'd suggest looking into updating your fi...

And most GOOD vintage designs are maybe only 3db noisier than the average modern pre,
Really? I would have thought it was much higher than that, especially given the thermal behavior of all those old resistors.

The germanium to me sounded like it got way more room in the sound (not particularly a sound that I want) and more noise along with a darker, less defined sound It's likely that the operating bandwidth of that germanium transistor circuit is much lower than that of the opamp used in the MOTU. That ...

will you still be selling the kits? do you have any more available? even the bare bones one with just the IC's and instructions? No more kits, sorry. I'm pondering whether or not we'll do the bare-bones thing. I hate to dump this on you just as you were looking for a compressor. PM me, and I'll see...

Why did you decide to discontinue it??? Much of the work we've started taking on is far too involved for us to keep the 3630 modification around. We simply don't have the time and the manpower. The 3630 modification is something I still love dearly--I think it's a fantastic deal for the money, and ...

I use teflon coated Cat5 wire for all kinds of audio work, and I've been doing it for three years now with no problems whatsoever. I've even built a few great sounding speaker cables out of the stuff. I'd say give it a try, and see what you think it sounds like.
