Re: AAD, ADD, DDD... remember this?
Ahh yes... the old "SPARS" code... on a note about the "disclaimers" that the digital compact disk would reveal 'flaws' with the original master recordings... one band I worked with [they were called "Black Number Nine"] put the following disclaimer in their CD: "This was recorded analog. The digita...

Re: Bass Compression, A primer...
FWIW... when I'm confronted with a bass sound that needs some "front end" to it I'll go with a slow attack and a quick to medium release... when I'm confronted with a bass sound that needs more of the "note" to be sucked out of it I'll go with a medium to long release. Re: API vs. Neve
There are so many elements in a chain that any one specific desk is kind of irrelevant. You also have to consider the rooms, microphone selection and placement... outboard processing employed, storage formats, mix desks, mix formats... etc. It's a bit difficult to pull one element from any specific ...

Re: TapeOp Con - Thank you!!!!
With that, i have to say that i was a tad disappointed with the conference. Mostly it came down to me feeling pretty alienated by the amazing amounts of information given...very pro oriented information that went over this four tracker's head. Interesting... I guess sometimes you have to 'raise the...

Re: TapeOp Con - Thank you!!!!
it seems like their are a lot of folks attending with a wealth of knowledge that weren't on panels... Last year I found that some of the absolute best panels were held outside in the smoking area... the year before I found that the best panels were held in front of the theater [in the smoking area]...

There's another scam you should be aware of... some asshole keeps boosting photos and text from the M-A site and putting up some stellar gear for ridiculous prices... shit like Crane Song LTD. "Spider"s for like $4k... enough to be sorta believable, but a hell of a bargain sort of thing. He says he'...

I've used it on many an occassion... it's awesome!! One of my favorite little tricks with it is to put a compressor on the send to it which makes it a bit more useful for things like drums.
As always... YMMV
