Are you sure it's not the preamp? Strange that both mics would make the same noise. They're not sharing a common power supply or something are they?

The green insert from a Switchcraft A7M connector should fit.

The dimensions you quoted are external dimensions. You won't fit that edcor in there. I just measured a 125B I have here.

When I built my NYD reamp boxes, I used metal single-gang electrical boxes from the hardware store, and a metal single-gang cover to close it up.

I should also mention that all 7 of the original NPN transistors in each channel were replaced with MPSA18 transistors for lower noise.
