Warren Haynes: oh Christ Jesus! Every blessed note! you ain't lyin! i once made a beer bottle neck slide by putting the bottle inside an old sock and smashing the fat part off on the curb outside my mom's house, while holding the neck tightly. was a little jagged, but it worked. thanks for th...

thanks guys. i noticed that muting behind the slide helps, i just need to tighten it up a bit. my action on my electrics is pretty high, because i tune down really low sometimes, but maybe not enough for slide stuff. i can't really go any higher unless i had a dedicated guitar for this purpose. i'm ...

Slide guitar technique.... need some advice.....

i'm trying to teach myself how to play slide guitar (not lap-steel or anything, just on regular elec. or ac. guitar) and it's tough as hell.

any pointers from any of you who may have more experience? i've been playing axe for 12 years now, but this is a whole 'nother animal to me.

For me, it depends on how I'll be doing the mixdown. For ITB mixes, I'll record at 88.2/24, but for projects that I want to mix through my analog board I'll record at 96/24. just out of curiosity, why 88.2 and not 96? is it a file size thing? i only ask because i've read a few posts on various boar...

It's OK to ask the band to turn down, and you get lucky and have them actually turn down! But do ask nicely, and explain why. it's funny, i was just talking to one of the bands i worked with tonight at the club i do sound at. the best way i've found to put it is to let them know that if they play a...

i just bought a couple of NOS tubes (mullard and amperex) to try out in my Charter Oak mic, and Mike (the mic designer) recommended i burn them in for 48 hours or so before use (as did the fella that i bought the tubes from). he basically explained that at first, NOS tubes can be a little noisy, and...

Thats crazy 2K!? jeezum christ. i used to see them around for like 4-500. great sounding unit. it was...

i've recorded vibes a couple times. the first time i used a single LDC about 3-4 feet above the center and 2 ksm141's in a spaced pair under the pipes facing up. i really liked the results of that. the 2nd time (i liked this better) i used a mis-matched stereo pair of LDC's (AT 4040 + Studio Project...
