QUESTION: ProTools on Windows - What Hardware?

If you would be building a Windows PC from scratch to run ProTools 7 with a Digi-003, what hardware would you use? Motherboard? Processor? Video card? XP or Vista? This would be an application specific machine NOT connected to the internet or anything other than running ProTools and eventually Sonar...

My http://www.radiationroom.com website is currently parked on a Cline Communications http://www.clinecommications.com server but I do NOT recommend their service because it is difficult to get through to customer support. But they are CHEAP, hosting my website for $36-USD a year for a 15MB account ...

I've never been in either of my local Guitar Center stores, never bought anything from them, and NEVER WILL!

For me it's
  1. Medley Music - http://www.medleynet.com
  2. Mercenary Audio - http://www.mercenary.com
  3. or if Medley doesn't have it, I go to Sweetwater - http://www.sweetwater.com

Are there any Tascam DM-4800 users here? Got a question 4 U

I am thinking about replacing an old analog console with a Tascam DM-4800 digital ouija-board. How much latency is there from the time an analog signal enters the board and goes through the 4800's mix core before getting spit back out as analog headed for the monitors? I need to be able to overdub k...

Copyright Alliance seeks feedback from the Music Community

Lucinda Dugger from The Copyright Alliance - http://www.copyrightalliance.org - just emailed the following to me, requesting that I forward information about their online survey to members of the music community. Questions about this survey should be addressed directly to Ms. Dugger @ LDugger*****co...

FOR TRADE: Digi-001 for litepipe DA

FOR TRADE: a turnkey Digi-001 system with a Mac beige G3, new hard drive, keyboard, dual monitor outputs, Wacom tablet, USB expansion card, ProTools LE, and other goodies which I'd consider horsetrading for a box that would expand a Digi-003 from 8 to 16 analog outs. Something like an RME ADI-8, Aph...

RADAR is bar-none the easiest to use hard-disk system on the face of the planet. My unit is the Project system with KC-24 remote, identical to the second system that Michael is selling. It is perfect for remote/location recording because of it's simplicity to set-up and operate. And it makes an exce...

Using a RADAR 24 as a DAW AD/DA

Does anyone here use a RADAR 24 unit for AD/DA with a DAW? Are there latency or other issues when running DAW audio through a RADAR in parallel with midi generated sounds, mixed on an analog board? I'm considering getting Sonar and don't have enough cash for 24 channels of AD/DA unless I sell the RA...

Re: who here dj's for weddings?

1. what are the pros and cons for being a dj at a wedding? Mixed crowds are very difficult to DJ for, because of the generational differences found in the audience. A wedding DJ should have all of the top-10 hits spanning from the 1950s to today's music across all genres and be prepared to change "...

Re: what are you guys using for monitor (screen) sizes?

i just got a new LCD (BENQ 22 inch) For not much more than the price of a large-sized flat-screen you could have bought yourself a projector that would have doubled as a big-screen TV. Canon has multiformat projectors for under a grand that will take most any kind of SVGA, NTSC, PAL, HDMI, and comp...

thegatsby, there most likely is a ground as the reason they didn't have or need a ground is the boxes that were used were metal as well the armored (BX) cabling had a metal jacket and the outlet screws in to the metal box and make contact which is common to "ground pin" on the outlet. Then at the pa...

My prediction is that Digi will eventually come out with a ProTools appliance. They already have Venue, which is a dedicated hardware system, so the obvious next move for Digi would be to eliminate the PC/Mac with their own CPU box which their HD and 003 series converter hardware can plug in to.
