Re: Name Dropping thread

I did an interview/taped live show for public access show with them and House of Large Sizes who are also truely amazing, genuine people who rock. Hell yeah, HOLS! Went early to a show of theirs a couple of years ago and they were just sitting around talking at a table by us. I talked with them for...

Re: new TO issue

Er. Looking forward to the new issue, but "Two Tickets to Paradise" is a really freaking awful song. Aside from "I need a lover who won't drive me crazy" by John Crouton Mellenhead, it's probably my least favorite classic rock song ever. C'mon, that song (the Cougar one) cracks me up every time I h...

Re: "Real men of genius" ads

I've loved the radio spots for a while - never heard this one before today. But it's so true. We don't need no stinkin' soundchecks! (that's a quote, I'm not really a wedding band guitar player. Well I've played a few I guess. Never wore a mini tuxedo or bagged a bridesmaid though). Mr. Wedding Band...

Re: Ethics Survey

I'd leave it, I've got plenty of pens. But on a related note, we just played a last minute gig on Monday night. We thought we were playing first but ended up playing second to last (and we almost got stuck playing last! No fun on a Monday night). I had only brought a little weed with me - I don't ge...

One of the heavies over at PSW (Slipperman?) highly recommended this guy a while ago and I made a note of it.

Re: Firewire signal chain?

I've also heard that getting a second FW port via PCMIA card can help problems of too many things on the FW bus (though maybe that was only an OS 9 problem, not sure). I've been using my internal drive but plan to pick up one of those cards when I get my FW drive.

Re: Key Lime Pie

Cracker just came through Spokane a day or two ago, so they're still going strong I guess, I haven't talked to anyone who went to the show though. I remember listening to that album a lot back when it came out and saw that tour as well. It's in my top 10 concerts, I think (though I'd have to think a...

Re: Day jobs and time management

So far there seems to be kind of a consensus: 1 - quit TV altogether (tough one. doable though maybe. I'd have to convince the wife though. Did I mention she works for a TV station?) 2 - schedule time for things, stick to it (not my style, but I'm sure it will help. I can do this) 3 - wake up early ...

Re: Day jobs and time management

... Yeah, that's a good idea. Unfortunately, that seems to be where my wife and I spend much of our quality time together. We try to keep it to specific shows, though. 24, Survivor, umm, a few others I can't recall now. But I've thought of cutting it out totally. Really my wife's more of a TV junki...

Re: Day jobs and time management

TV sucks. . . or they invented this thing that records stuff so you can watch it when your sick and can't do anything When I'm sick is when I get my best experimenting done! Lying in bed with my laptop, trying to get some reverb out of a dry snare track... In fact maybe I'm coming down with somethi...

... oh yeah, and cut out the tv. i never watch tv. i don't even have cable. i can't imagine how much worse it'd be if i had that to distract me. Yeah, that's a good idea. Hey, I'm at work! If I could mix or play guitar while I was here I would. At least I can get me some learnin' here while I'm making money to pay for my next mic.

Day jobs and time management

I work a typical 40 hour week (which means 50 once you add lunch, travel time, and working late), am in a band, and record that band, and sometimes others as well. I often find that it's 11pm and I haven't done a thing all day; no playing guitar, no recording, no mixing, no experimenting with anythi...
