It was like a warehouse/filmstage....massive. Whenever they'd want to get into a new line of business (i.e. mastering) they'd throw gobs of money at it because they could. Sony (parent) is a totally arrogant company and has done so much more harm than good over the last two decades. I'm sure there w...

Filtering out background noise
I am trying to clean up some audio taken from an interview.....the interview footage was done in a cafe and there is so much background talking, coffee cups, etc. What frequencies should I hone in on/are there any tools to help zoom in on my subject (male voice). Need to eliminate all this backgroun...

That houseboat is seriously indulgent...but you can't blame him for having all that money. I thought On An Island left a lot to be desired (especially lyrically)...Ironically, despite having the lavish houseboat, much of On An Island was recorded at Abbey Road! Gilmour is the real reason Floyd never...

On Location Recording Contract
I am about to record a band on location at their rehearsal space--usually I record people at my place. Does anyone have a simple contract form I can use to protect me from liability and help define the terms....
It's only a half day gig.
Thanks

Apogee Ensemble w/Logic
I read a really nice review of this in the latest Tape Op...I have been waiting for a seamless solution that works well with Logic without getting the whole Digidesign front end. 828 mkII isn't cutting it anymore for me.... Any 1st hand experiences on this (or limitations)? I am quite frankly trying...

I've had nothing but good experiences with Ramsas...owned two so far. They are a step above Mackie/Allen & Heath and are truly workhorses. The DA7 is a fantastic digital mixer and can be had for under $1000. The WR 820B is a 40 input mixer and the preamps are very good. These can be found for $500!!!

Roger wrote all the stuff on More (Cymbaline, Green is the Colour) and most the other good stuff, too (Grantchester Meadows, etc.). He's also the one that drove all the experimental stuff (building furniture on stage, Return of the Sons of Nothing, Massed Gadgets of Auxeminies etc.) in the early day...

Everyone's obviously entitled to their opinion, but I disagree with Optionben...I think it's their most adventurous yet, sonically and musically. They are growing so much (beyond the so called 'indie world!!! Yikes!!!!). Joe Chicarelli is brilliant and the Shins needed him to take them to the next s...

Yes, now that you mention it that's an interesting point....they were more into shaping their "sound" than "hi-fi" early in their career, then it reversed. Seems like the obsession with "hi-fi" maybe robbed some creativity. Personally I do like the later stuff too - up to and before Final Cut. Can p...
