I often use lots of compression. Every song and record is a bit different, but there things that tend to happen almost universally. These are general ideas, not a formula or requirement! We've got an APR24 at work, 2" 24 track....though i've never used it or seen it used in the year i've been there. nobody wants to spend the money on tape anymore. not even used reels. hell my band couldn't afford it and i work at the studio! i wish i could buy that beast and fit it in my tiny apart...

The Fiberskyns are very groovy. I've used the heaviest ones on Toms for a cool rock sound. I like they low mid whoomp of them.

I've done a few things for slightly less than my standard rate. That usually isn't a problem, and is usually for repeat customers. I have also done a couple of "super special deals" for friends and they usually bite me in the ass! The "super special" has been officially stopped and will never return.

I rented a MixWizard to record a live record last January. It sounds pretty good and has direct out on each channel.
