Re: the one mic you want most
I'd love it if they did away with the MXL crap and brought Oktava back. Yeah like I said I'll get to it, just isn't top priority at the moment. Thanks for the heads up though.

Re: the one mic you want most
Brian! You have the 2500?! I'm rotten jealous now.....I'll get round to getting one from out of state but I just kick myself when I think that I'll won't get the same price and another 319. One instance of my being frugal not paying off.

Re: Post for dumb people.
I'm not sure what a powerbook is but I'll presume its a computer of sorts. If there is any way of just going in and adding a bit of effects to the vocals to make them as "surprisingly well" as the drums and guitar then I'd say use those options. If it's a matter of the performance being "close/prese...

Re: looking for a tight and full snare sound, having trouble
All this advice about what we do before recording but it sounds as though Sambainbridge has already done the recording and now doesn't like the sound of the snare and has to "fix" it. I'll admit that's a tough position to be in and in the future the info that you've been given on this thread alone w...

Re: the one mic you want most
The mic I want is because of a "The one that got away" story... I want the Oktava MKL2500 tube mic. I had the chance to snag one with a MK319 with it for $200!!! but I thought. "Eh I already have 3 MK319s, I'll just wait until I can get the MKL2500 for an even more ridiculous price." So that's what ...

Re: looking for a tight and full snare sound, having trouble
Also, maybe its the way you are supposed to eq, I am sort of new so any advice would be appreciated. If this is something that you can't go back and re-record then you may have to try to use the extremes of processing the sound and use EQs and onboard compressors. However a point was made that was ...

Ah...I'm a doofus. Well then look at it this way, a little bit of info went along with making an unnecessary point.

Re: which mic pres does everyone use with their ribbon mics?
Yes, yes I know. I was only stating that fact for amplified sound sources. I thought I would have covered myself from such "observations" by making the comment about "recording something that has no volume control"...oh well. At least we know that people are actually reading the posts thoroughly huh...

Re: YOUR Mics - YOUR uses for them
57's were used all over that record, i'll tell you whut You lie. How about "Revolver?" Chris Revolver revolved around SM57's. In fact, a little history for you: The SM57 used to be called the 'shure revolver', that is, when it was still a face beating butt plug. Actually no, SM57's were not all ove...

Re: which mic pres does everyone use with their ribbon mics?
Well Versuviusx it looks as though you've been given a wealth of informative resources to answer your question but at any rate no you don't need to drop a serious ammount of coin in order to get a clean noiseless signal from your ribbon, though most ribbons do require a bit more headroom than your L...
