joe,
do you use your HD system with your tpae machine? If so, how, do you go from tape to protools and then back to tape?

adat transfers
I transfer data recorded into an early model adat xt to computer wave files via the adat edit sound card. I recently did a 2-track protools session via an Mbox, where I recorded a drum kit on my adat with the intention of later incorporating it into the mix. Drums came first and the the rest of the ...

Re: new to the board with an mbox question
i have crazy latency issues with my mbox, but i'm pushing an anciet machine to it's limits. I run on a PC at 800 mh and it doesn't cut it. The latency ca be worked around by adjusting your sample buffers in the playback operations of the settings tab. If you're running on a dual 1.2 mac you should p...

Re: What sets your studio apart?
I find that good sound rooms can really make the difference. For example a friends studio has a live rom built on a separte slab on concrete than the control room. There is absolutley no bleedthrough. But all this is worthelss in the hads of a daft engineer. It's the ears that matter.

Protools HD
Can someone explain to me how this works. For istance how does it interfadce with a computer? Is it through PCI slots or some other means? Also, what are the differences between HD and LE? What would be the cost of setting up a basic HD system from the ground up?

Re: new to the board with an mbox question
i think the mbox is great ofr what it is: a nice blend of sound quality and mobility. For the money a great buy. There are a few drawbacks however. only have two inputs gets old quick and the preamps are a little lacking on their own. I run the direct out of a recording console into the mbox to coun...

Re: new to the board with an mbox question
This leads me to a follow-up question: Would a machine like a new G5, that had only USB 2 inputs even be compatible with the mbox?

new to the board with an mbox question
Hi I have a scenerio that I was wondering if anyone had any practical experience with: I have the opportunity to purchase a previous generation 17" G4 Powerbook which I would run with my Mbox Protools rig. I've gone through the specs of the machine and all looks great, save one detail. The USBs are ...
