Re: teac 5 board into echo indigo i/o buzzing

It could be lots of things really. 1. being tht the cassette and MD do not measure accuately and the noise is there. 2. you could be having a ground loop problem. are the console and the computer pluged in to the same outlet, does the buzz exist if you come out of an aux or other output as opposed t...

Firewire for audio (same as above) = All Good Now they could make USB 2 interfaces for audio but wouldn't it be beter i...

Re: Signal without the gain??

I am not familiar with that sound card but if it doesn't have trim on the card (or break out box) itself, try to lessen the input with the software mixer for the card. most cards have a mixer but then again... I do not use this card. I do use Nuendos though. how hot is your signal... really hot? if ...

Re: How much is too much when it comes to Hard Drive space?

How I see it by the japmn. geta small drive (40-60 Gb) for tracking directly to (or smaller if you can alot tracks to multiple drives) and get a huge drive (200-300 Gb.) for back up. Now, this is the important part... after each session, copy your project files and media from the small drive(s) to t...

Re: Whats the difference between the Tascam 424MKII and 424M

first of all, i loved both my mk1 and mk2 424s. I made a ton of music on both and miss it in away. simplicity = productivity in my oppinion. the mk3 has full eq on both return ch. (ch 5 and 6) so you can cut all that shitty high end out of your digital reverb. also, if I am not wrong, the mk 3 has p...

Re: Making beats? (yea i have a lotttttttttttttt of free tim

If you have't really done much sequencing in the past I would suggest a software sequencer over hardware. something simple like froot loops or if you are feeling randy, reason. both are very versitile and expandable and fairly affordable. (or free you thief) easy to learn and fun. both offer beats a...

Re: proximity effect question

leave the amp alone.
if you have to... use a high pass filter on the console but be conservative,
you can always take freq. away but bringing it back is a differant story.

also try putting the mic a little off axis. people might crucify me for that one, but oh well.

Re: Where, oh, where is the good used gear?!

1 thing about ebay.

BE CREATIVE WITH YOUR SEARCH.

some people have no idea what they are selling.

Try understating (dumbing down) your search and see what you come up with.

EXAMPLE: "weird old organ" = Fender Contempo Organ for $250

shipping kills though.

Re: Didn't Mercury Rev Record on Film?

I checked in with my film buff guru on this one. you can or could get 35mm (roughly 1") film completely covered with oxide and it was used to do post mixes for film. the idea being that when properly aligned, it would stay in sync. the film guy said he has only seen mono head stacks but does not dou...

Re: Tube Amp for ipod...sit down first....

I dont think a tube amp will improve on the poopsi sound of Mp3 or AAC.
they can't create lost dynamic range or frequency, but man... tubes look cool!

Biamp Olympia 24 ???

I may be purchasing a biamp Olympia 24 on ebay but I do not really know much about this console or company. It looks like I may be able to get a good deal but I'm not sure how much is too much to pay for the board. It will be used for tracking to Nuendos via delta 1010. any information would be grea...

Re: going to Nuendo from Pro tools

I have been using Nuendo on a 1Ghz Pc. w/ 512 megs ram for a few years. I think it is great! Sure, a glitch here and there but what app doesn't? It is bit of a resource hog but what isn't? it feels much more... umm... organic?... than protools does to me but I have been known to prefer things just b...

fader question.

Ok, here goes... Mic/line pre = amplifier eq also can be seen as an amplifer fader = ... (I think only attenuator, right? wrong?) do the faders on consoles control amplifiers or only attenuate levels? by looking at the board it seems you can get upwords of 10 to 15 dB of gain at the fader... sometin...
