Otari MX5050 8 SHD pinch roller problem

I just picked this machine up...the pinch and guide rollers seem good however the the thing it pinchs onto on the right is either missing a piece or doesnt turn..the rubber roller pinches down against a solid pin and stops...Im assuming its missing a piece? Something that turns on the shaft?

Dryed my last Tapeop issue in Toaster oven

Me and my neighbor share a PO box and she left it on my porch not knowing it was gonna monsoon rain. It was saturated when I got home so I dryed it in my toaster oven...its all crinkly now but salvaged...it sounds different :-)

I was researching those jfets you mentioned and people seem to have a pretty low opinion of them. Are they just gear snobs? Alot of folks seem to love these boards.

Quantum 128 board

I recently bought an 0tari 5050 eight track and my buddy threw in the Quantum 128 for free...its 12/8 with a patchbay and what looks like room for an expansion. Anyone use these? Its pretty scuzzy...obviously needs a good cleaning[/img]

Use deep cycle batterys rather than car batterys tho...they are designed more for that use. And usean isolater to get rid of inverter hum. I havent done this recording but grew up off the grid...Out of poverty we did everything the wrong and hummy way :-)

I might get some guff for this from some folks but to be fair I repurpose most of the parts eventually...even the wood. And really unless it has a tonewheel like the Hammond E112 which I left intact...all 350 pounds of it....they just do not sound good. I scrapped out a 57 lowrey and scored some 50'...
