Cheap USB interface with ADAT?
So my big, ancient PC died, & I'm currently using a decently specced (i5 7400 with 16GB RAM) temporary replacement, but it's micro ATX, so completely unexpandable. My big problem right now is that the only way I have to get audio into it is through a 1/8" audio jack. I have converters with ADAT I/O,...

Re: Music recommendations - diversify my playlist
I don't listen to a lot of whole albums from new artists these days, but some bands where I'd go for at least half an album:
Slow Pulp
Glintshake
Land of Talk (the new album is a little sleepy for my tastes though)
Yard Act (whom I sadly missed because I got the covid)
Wet Leg.

Re: 8ch. ADAT optical to AES w/ SRC included?
Lucid 88192 appears to be able to do this (though not sure about the word-sync part). You can route ADAT Ins to AES Outs no problem--I've never done it, but it seems simple enough. Link to the manual if you're interested: http://www.symetrix.co/repository/88192_ug.pdf

If it's not, I'm not sure what you'd sacrifice by starting a new account with whatever new name strikes your fancy.

Re: Monitor/Center Section
My monitor section of the AMEK crapped out on my last weekend, so now it's only worth is the preamps and EQs! The Audient Nero Monitor Controller seems like an ideal piece of gear, especially having a digital input with DA I have the Nero (one of my pandemic purchases), & I've been very happy with ...

Something from long ago that for some reason was sitting on my pc desktop. A peppy, jazzy, loungey little number. Music for smoking cigars on submarines.

Re: Electro-Voice 641- got one? What do you think of it?
It's a low-z model (150 ohms), and it does include the cable that converts it to XLR. The 641 is also only rated to 10k. Maybe it's the same mic...? If the cable has the 4-pin connector on it (MC4M), and the price on the mic is decent, it might be worth it for the cable alone. Last I checked, those...

Curated Playlists
So that thread elsewhere got me thinking about something I've contemplated doing & yet never done, which is to start a thread where folks can throw up playlists, preferably new and/or unusual stuff. So I'm throwing up a playlist of shit I've been listening to. I like hearing new shit, & I like the i...

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....
Another '70s Matsumoku bass--this one an Epiphone ET-285, defretted & refinished in a lovely purple. The very ugly LP copy is a kit guitar. The one pickup is a Burstbucker Pro, & the guitar plays surprisingly nicely. It was cheap, & I find the ugliness appealing.
