Is that a fawn AC-30 or 15 in your avatar? Real or reissue?

A good combo organ - not quite the clear solid tone of the Farfisa or Vox, but very close. More round-sounding, and less buzzy overall.

I guess it was good - there were TOO many people going there. It caught us off guard to have that much traffic, but it was up and running again as soon as we found out. They are printing as we speak, cranking out books. When they are done, of course, they ship overseas to us, then we will ship to yo...

We just posted some sample/preview pages so you can have a peek inside the book. If you read these four, you have just 536 pages left to go!

Never Say Die has some great tunes. Some of their best drum sounds too, Bill kills on there. Dehumanizer is great, but the sound got screwed - it was tracked with "out of calibration" Dolby SR and they could never get the RIGHT sound back. You have all missed TYR, which is a great heavy record. Tony...

Use a video camera with a stereo mic. I've tried it all. The camera will auto adjust levels for you - turning up the quiet bits. If you use the stereo mic, you won't lose one side, which you do when moving a directional mic back and forth. Plus it's easier to hear who is who when there's a stereo pi...

Yes, to summarize what they are trying to tell you: It is tape echo, from a reel-to-reel studio machine (almost certainly 1/4" tape). The tape echo machines were usually run at 15ips in most studios (good Elvis type slap echo), but you could Varispeed it (a knob to change e speed of the machine abov...

Yes, there's a lot of misinformation. Certainly, slim memories are part of it, but some things have been passed down over time - from who knows what source. Even more than misinformation, there are a lot of details that are (so far)completely unknown. This is good to know, as there will be a LOT of ...

Hello, Somehow someone has gotten an impression that there is a "premise" to the book. I don't think we ever had one, or set out to have such a goal. Hopefully, this book will show one of the largest "pictures" of the whole era and process they used. We learned a TON by doing it, so it is likely you...

Keep that Ebow away from the pickups!!!

It is a powerful demagnetizer. The Ebow people don't want to admit it for fear of lawsuits. But it does EXACTLY what a demagnetizer does. Only stronger. I've seen it ruin all three pickups on an old Strat. Takes time, but it works....

>>The info is already out there<< Oddly enough, most of it isn't. It seems that there is very little about most things. Accurate knowledge about something very basic - like what EQ they used. Certainly this is not a "hard" topic to understand, but I doubt there is much known about it. Of course, cha...

They are the original mixes, no six-pack stuff. BUT they sound ok at best, BETTER than the terrible box set. That was a joke. They are a bit too brickwalled (surprise) and EQ is ok. GET the old Greatest Hits CD that has cowboys smoking on the cover. THAT sounds great - original tapes, older masterin...
