Yeah the drums need redone. I kind of wonder about using a more orchestra based arrangement (timpanis, etc). But using brushes should back them off well.

I would definitely pan the first guitar farther right.

What was with The Suburbs winning album of the year? I got a couple songs into that album before being bored with it. This can't be the first time that you've realized that you're in the minority with this opinion... That album was a HUGE FAVORITE of many publications and fan polls for 2010. It sho...

Tapes? :? If I may...why tapes? I was having a hard time finding a working deck to listen to my old tapes, so I could throw them away. Cassettes were pretty worthless back when big labels were selling them. Recording onto tape...yeah, but releasing tapes?

Yeah what I wanted to see was good, The Avett Brothers. Wish Bob Dylan would have done something besides Maggie's Farm . At least his voice would have worked with his new stuff. I need to watch it again, but the Grammy's are being annoying where I can't find the video. They aren't allowing it on you...

The Great Lake Swimmers recorded one of their albums in a silo. The crickets outside get louder throughout the album. I guess I don't remember how it sounds, remember reading about it in Tape Op sometime last year.

Yeah, if the floor is too reflective put down some carpet.

I guess the appropriate answer would be, "it depends." What are you recording? What do you want it to sound like? How high are the ceilings?

Yeah, time is up after being number one on an indie label with about .05 percent of the marketing dollars of the number 2 record? Doubt it. It's critically and popularly acclaimed as one of their best works, but it is true that not everyone is expected to like it. Merge may be indie, but it isn't s...

Apples work pretty well. Does it matter what type? I like granny smiths. Also, if the singer sounds good live try recording like that. Maybe even get the singer away from the mic so the smacks aren't as audible. At some point it is the singer's mic or singing technique and it should be fixed.
