recording to the system drive, while it will work, is playing with fire... you want your system drive to remain as clean and unfragmented as possible, and recording audio is about the quickest way to fragment a drive. A second internal drive is actually usually better than an external Firewire (400)...

well, nothing in an iBook is EASY, but it's doable. I've only added ram to a powerbook which is generally a bit easier. well tracktion WAS free, but not totally easy.

The best way to go would be garageband. not free, but close. You can get copies of iLife 04 for $25 or so now. It's version 1, but it works great and is likely the easiest way to go.

Pro Tools free is only OS 9 compatible, so that's out too.

a) it's bad for your cooking, don't know if it's bad for you, I mean, I never really thought about it but that surface must be getting into your food somehow and can't be good.
