I'm not sure if all fabrics they offer are Flame Retardant, but they seem to be the 1st choice for many pro's (and cost accordingly!): http://www.guilfordofmaine.com/ http://www.gikacoustics.com/product/guilford-of-maine-fabric-by-the-yard/ I just use Burlap and spray-on fire retardant in my (compar...

For a while the prices on those shot through the roof, but it looks like the quad one can be had for a reasonable price. I think I'm just going to do that, looks like they benchmark better than the new one. As mentioned - Apple "wised up" and distanced the Mini from the current desktop line as an a...

Not a Mac guy, but I believe Apple wised up and made the Mac Mini impossible to upgrade. People were buying the cheaper ones and maxing them out with 3rd party RAM and SSD's and surpassing some of the Mac Desktops for way less cash! Apple couldn't have that. I believe they stepped down the CPU's, to...

Re: and a hush falls over the studio

Wow... everyone, thanks for the insights. I posted this same question here and on an audio facebook group... similar advice in both spots. Did all the snips this morning. Just the balanced line-level devices that touch the Toft... huge difference! Now, the signal chain from my synths & mics* all th...

Don't you love ground loops! You should try tracking down a multi-room grounding issue that happens over DirecTV wiring! That's some fun stuff there... You can try to lift the sleeve (shields) at one end (generally the rx end) and see if that helps. Try with a single channel and a single cable (or a...

The Purple Audio "Sweet Ten" continually gets very high marks for attention to detail on its PSU. I bought one to curb as many potential power issues as possible. So far so good. Plus you get 10 slots! However, the Heritage MCM-8 looks like it kicked it up a few more notches with fully-regulated/iso...

I can say my hook-up at GC-Pro, Brad Lyons, will hook up some pretty incredible deals for me (I'm not quite spending 70K with him, though, but my cumulative total is certainly growing!!!). Some gear manufacturers have very slim margins to start with, but he will generally dig as deep as he can. You ...

The Flying Cow is a standlone AD/DA converter (don't believe it's part of the Delta line). But, yes, they do seem to be going for more than a used Delta 1010LT PCI card. I see Flying Cows on eBay from $35 on up (see one for $69 BIN in good condition). If that M-Audio driver can run two Delta 1010's ...

I'm wondering if they just transposed the ads for the 3088 and the 3089, the 3088 is a DA that supports multiple frequencies 32, 44.1, 48, 96 etc Yep - Looks like a case of copy/paste specs. Amazon states the AD version is a 48K only box: http://www.amazon.com/Lenkeng-LKV3089-Digital-Optical-Conver...

For not a whole lot more than a pair of assembled Lola's (less if you include a 500 series rack!), you might want to look into the Sonic Farm Creamliner - a Stereo Pentode tube device designed specifically sweeten line level sources - including mix bus. It also has some basic tone controls, and woul...

Indeed - Way too expensive and not likely something I'd spend my own money on (as hinted at in my first post) - but gave a me a genuine chuckle when I saw it.

Figured it was good to pass along a chuckle if nothing else :) You know - Endorphins and all that jazz :D

LOL - "Tube" USB Memory Stick

Was looking for a gift for someone, and ran across this. Thought it was cute if nothing else: It's a USB memory stick camouflaged as a 12AX7 looking tube. Sure to add some "tube warmth" to your sterile digital files :D http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NAZZA0M/sr=8-115/qid=1417912857/ref=olp_produ...
