Yeah, I bought the FabFilter Pro Bundle. Love it. The EQ, compressor, and limiter are all amazing. The gate is very good, too. Well worth the money.

The SM7b is next on my list. There's a cool kick drum mic shootout over at recordinghacks.com and listening blind I liked the SM7b, RE20, ATM250, and ATM25 best.

SSL stuff is really good. Just installed some in a very high-end studio and they sound very neutral.

Another option would be the Steinberg (aka Yamaha) MR816 series. It stands well against the Prism Orpheus, imo.

By all early accounts the Apollo is also very good.

I've been playing with the Fab Filter stuff. Wow. The limiter is very good. It's hard to choose between that and the Voxengo Elephant.

The Pro C compressor is really great. A huge range of different tones available.

The Pro EQ is probably my favorite. Very easy to use and extremely powerful.
