VST Plugins - Meter display not working

In Logic 5.5., most of my VST plugins work fine, but a few don't show output levels when I use them.

This ever happen to folks? Is it time to reinstall?

Thanks.

When Monitors Lie / Ghost Clipping

Lately I've been paying a lot more attention to where different tracks sit in a mix by using subtractive EQ and a little additive to try to give each one it's own space. Things sound pretty good in the monitors, they sound pretty good on headphones, the individual tracks, busses and masters don't ap...

PCI-card based system - out of the box / firewire conversion

I might be in la la land with this one, but figured it was worth asking. Anyone try to rig a PCI interface or two (say two Delta 1010's) into a box that accepts PCI but outputs firewire. Something that could plug into a laptop? Maybe it's possible to convert an old desktop case into some sort of ext...

Going to a 4 year institution: seconded! Making a career out of music can be as likely as a good high-school basketball player making it in the NBA. It can happen, but you better have a backup! I think you should continue on your path, ask lots of questions, work with new people, bands, etc. while y...

GarageBand rules... I like to tell everyone, "It's the new 4-track!"

Great for ideas, and you can get complex with it..

What I'm most amazed with is how well the apple soundcard handles latency stuff.. I would have thought a consumer audio card couldn't handle that. hmmm.

Pro Tools 7 gets 'stuck'

I teach Pro Tools to teenagers, but I'm by no means an expert... so maybe someone can shed some light on this problem that's driving me nuts. Randomly, the record transport will get stuck.. it won't respond. I'll have Record Enabled on the transport, then I go to hit play and it won't budge. I notic...

I actually enjoy hearing songs before they are finished... sort of an insiders look as to how songs were put together/changed/revamped.. you could imagine that panning in the foo fighters song being diliberated during mixing (let's cut that.. no let's keep it).. or maybe it was just a lazy mistake. ...

Common Space in Philadelphia, PA

Hi all-- As I've posted earlier, I'm saying bye bye to my recording space, moving into an apartment. I'm interested to talk with anyone seriously into finding a common space to rent for a rehearsal/recording studio. Ideally 24 hour access, some sort of warehouse or garage. The idea would be to share...

if you get a mic that can pick up low range, maybe a wide diaphragm condenser.. or a D112, you'd be surprised how bassy you could make hitting a box. go for it!

Moving out of house = no more studio?

I live with my 2 bandmates, together we've put together a nice home studio that I'm proud to call my own. We live in a 3 story rowhome in Philadelphia, rent is affordable and we've got tolerant neighbords, etc. etc. Lease is up at the end of May. One guy wants to move out and now the other one is un...

if you've upgraded to Tiger (10.4), you'll need to upgrade to 6.8 or 7 for it to work. Otherwise, try the suggestions laid out, if that doesn't work, time for a reinstall or reformat.
