Re: mannuals off the web
Mark Glinsky is a great guy to deal with and very helpful. I didn't see a manual for the G16 listed on his site, but you can check for yourself here. Though if he has it, Mark probably won't be much cheaper than $14.00

Re: Operating a QSC Audio PLX1602 PA
djeasygo is correct. Plug the mic into channel 1 then take the main L/R out from the board to the L/R or 1/2 inputs on the amp. It's actually pretty rare to blow up speakers from clean power. Unless the speakers are really lame, they are much more likely to blown from underpowered amps being driven ...

Re: Shure SM7: Your Opinions
As stated by others above, I would not pick the SM-7 as an all purpose mic, but I've had great luck with it on kick, guitar cabs and some vocals; it's great on VO. And what the hell, it looks good too.

Re: RNC/ Really Nice Compressor
I was at that same panel and wondered at the time about the $140 figure. I've never seen anyone selling them new for that cheap. They generally sell new for $175-190. There are always a few for sale on eBay: http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?GetResult&query=rnc&from=R7&ebaytag1=ebayreg&ht=1&s...

Re: Global verb?
I'm a budding engineer with a verb question: is it unheard of to put a global verb on an entire mix?
No.
Try it and give a listen. If it sounds good, it is good.

Re: ear popping airplanes
On most commercial flights the cabin is pressurized to 10,000 ft. As the plane descends below 10,000 ft. the air pressure begins to build. Doesn't matter what your destination is - unless it's above 10K. The greater the pressure differential outside your ears and inside your ears, the greater the di...

Re: your favorite reverb?
You said you wanted "hardware", but you didn't say you were ruling out digital. And I'm not sure what "low cost" means to you. If digital is OK, I would take a look on eBay for a Roland SRV-2000. They usually go for $100-150. They still sound good and offer quite a bit of programability. The SRV-330...
