Amping them is great. It seems to make them sound more real. It's basically like the difference between using a guitar through an amp or through an amp modeler (lke guitar rig). The moving air makes it just sound more natural. Fender twins and vintage Marshalls are my personal favorite, especially f...

If you can get one that has an Oxford 911 Chipset, that's pretty much optimized for recording. Definitely not a neccessity but if you find a drive with it for a good price, go for it.

I know a shop that's got the Tannoy's and I might stop by tomorrow and check them out. I'll post what I think of them.

Yeah, the only thing about a 2 analog outs is that they tend to end up being high end and thus pricey. I guess manufacturers just figure that the only 2 out boxes they need to make are of high quality.

What's your budget and how many outs do you need? Just the two for the speakers?

Q-Clone, IR-1, Renessaince Comp, Renessaince EQ, UA1176, There's a TC Electronic Comp that sounds great can't remember the name though, I really like the new digi gate that comes with PT, the version 3 one.

Sorry about the giant run-on.

As far as I know you'd be fine as far as compatibility goes. Also you can get an upgrade for cheap. Cheap enough that'll be worth your wild. Here's a digistore link for some available upgrades:

Self Calibrating monitors

Anyone have any thoughts on any of the "room compensating" monitors? Two I've seen are the Tannoy Ellipse and those JBLs, not really sure what else is out there. I just can't imagine they take care of any real issues. Can't EQ phase problems.

Condensers for kick

I've been wanting to try some different condensers on kick. Something besides a FET 47. I was using a AT4050 for a while and that was nice but like I said, just looking for more options.
