Amping them is great. It seems to make them sound more real. It's basically like the difference between using a guitar through an amp or through an amp modeler (lke guitar rig). As far as I know you'd be fine as far as compatibility goes. Also you can get an upgrade for cheap. Cheap enough that'll be worth your wild. Here's a digistore link for some available upgrades:

Self Calibrating monitors
Anyone have any thoughts on any of the "room compensating" monitors? Two I've seen are the Tannoy Ellipse and those JBLs, not really sure what else is out there. I just can't imagine they take care of any real issues. Can't EQ phase problems.

Condensers for kick
I've been wanting to try some different condensers on kick. Something besides a FET 47. I was using a AT4050 for a while and that was nice but like I said, just looking for more options.
