used is definitely the way to go for that price range. There's one company that makes a box that goes used for roughly that price. I'll try to figure out what and post tomorrow.

I've heard it's better to mod it, make your own from scratch or buy a dedicated one. I haven't done a whole lot of reamping lately and it seems like all the places I've gone have one already there.

Man I gotta get a home setup soon.

A wah can be an awesome effect or just down right annoying. The majority of the time, annoying IMO. It's not so much that it's the effect it self, it's that the player doesn't know how to use it, or he doesn't know how to moderate it's usage.

Well, if you really want it, I would hook up with a studio and spend as much free time as possible there. A good majority of studios, especially studios in a non-major market realize that you gotta work and gotta eat. The thing they won't like however is just coming in every once in a while. It make...

Last session I was at we just used a spare NS10, got good low end response and you could here upwards of 3-4Khz which actually suprised me a bit. Probably will end up getting rolled of anyways but it's nice to know that some of that high end ends up being there. I think I'm gonna start trying out di...

I've noticed a lot of younger bands actually take criticism extremely well. They seem to usually realize that they are young and inexperienced and take almost any advise you can throw at them. Poor playing really isn't anything you can help, it's up to them to get their skills to where they want the...

I don't know of any pcmcia cards that just give you those connections. Anything you gett as far as I know is going to be those plus some extra analog ins. Also, it's going to cost you some extra money.

TC Electronic stuff has always been great for me. Haven't used to much of their low ennd stuff but what I've used is good and I've also heard good things about it. They've fot the 350 out now and you can get the 300 for even less.

I started with Sonar and it was great for a long time. Sadly now I'm a PT whore and don't use much else. Nuendo now and again but that's it.
Sonar can do anything just as well as any other software (and some things better). It just really hasn't caught on at all in the professional world.

I would clear up your internal hard drive a little bit. Just make it so you have at least half your internal hard drive left (roughly). It'll run a little better, and if you're running windows, make sure you defrag after.

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1477446&CatId=0 I like these INOi external burners. Not only are they a sweet 16X DVD and 48X CD burner, but it's also a 120GB hard drive and a 6-in-1 smart media reader. You can also save a couple bucks and get the one that ...

You could try a different cooling system for your computer, that usually shuts them up a bit. Also, you could get a little iso-cabinet for your computer. Both aren't totally inexpensive but then again inexpensive is relative.

I've been wondering the same thing to. That one mic they have with the interchangeable capsules (251, 67, 47, and 12) seem kinda cool. It's kinda hard to believe that just changing the capsule is really gonna get you all of those mics but ya never know. Also, they are supposed to be hand-tuned (ear-...
