I work as an IT guy and support scores of Macs. Macs of your vintage may be subject to the Capacitor Plague. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague I have an entire lab of iMacs that are constantly in disrepair due to bad caps in the power supply and mother board. They were the last batch of ...

Thanks ... I just finished a new VST the other day. I'll make that the subject of a new post though.

I actually stripped these out and packaged them into a VSTi several months ago.

It's free.

It is PC only but you can check it out on my blog.

I've been using a TINY Lenovo S10 netbook for this. Ever since the EEE came out, I've been wondering if these netbooks could handle VST duty. I don't know how it will turn out but you can see some stuff over here on my blog: http://armanbohn.com/blog/2008/10/13/lenovo-s10-as-vst-rig/ The computer is...

Be careful of the MAX (lightrail) it has a break in the line until August 24th. You can't ride it across the river.

I'm sure if you ask some specific questions, some of us PDX'rs will pipe up.

I feel your pain. First off though ... What kind of guitar sound are you after? Clean ... mild overdrive ... crunch ....? If it is problem with all of the above, you should really try and mix up your setup. You should be able to get ok sounds from the 'ol 57 in most situations. Not stellar ... but o...

I use Synthedit to make my VSTs, which is PC only. :( I'm hoping someone, someday will write some code so that PC VSTs can be recompiled for Mac, but I hear that would be very difficult. I might just have to make this cat piano thing sometime BUT there is no way I'm releasing that for free! Cat love...

I'm going to try and create a few octaves of real tones from a glass. Think glass harmonica ... It will have to be a pretty big glass, like a goblet! I'll need to bust out the old Korg tuner and an eye dropper. Do I use wine? Will the density of the liquid effect the tone? Hmmm... Wine glass seems t...

The Blackheart is a good 5w tube amp. It's basically a Epi Jr. with a tone stack (bass mid high). Bitmo has a mod for it that gives the amp three different voicings. I posted a bunch of sound clips of the modded Blackheart on my blog. Sort of a "before and after" comparison. If you like the Epi Jr.,...

I gave up on recording my spaceship years ago ... Russian POS that I picked up at a blowout sale at S.C.

Then I had the analog mod done (all caps and op amps, metal film res...).

Sounds great now, no matter what I use.
