I used some wireless ones from Shure I think. My take away was that our studio lights really messed with them and they looked ridiculous in the audience shots. Make sure all headsets are charged at every opportunity. At least the console we had didn't have any outputs so I recall for recording I fir...

Yeah, the reason why people recommend the BSS audio DIs is because they are generally pretty good. I've used them for years and I haven't had problems outside of mistreated units. I don't think that's the case if you've bought it though. I'd say with a piezo you could probably leave the pad off comp...

and a proffesional XLR cable going to a preamp (i dont know its what the djs have in between the two vinyls, thats what i had). Wait... You don't mean a RIAA preamp by any chance, do you? Something like this ? Are you sure you've connected it up right? And you are right: the SM58 is a mediocre stag...

A solenoid and a bit of wire. this is brilliant, but is it wise next to hard disks? I'd say it's pretty safe. The tiny, tiny magnetic field of a solenoid on the outside of the chassis is not much compared to the one from the power transformer that's inside the computer. If you are paranoid I guess ...

I think it depends on the channel. For a small cable channel (such as the one I was working for) I'd say the requirements are pretty low. As long as it's relatively noise free the sound quality won't be the main obstacle. Instead we'd look for tracks that are easy to license, suit the mood and have ...

Hey JH, If you mean microphonic type stuff from the needle, that's not it, although that's a good guess... This is actual musical/sonic content I'm talking about-- kick drum and bass; mostly kick drum. Also, there was a default low-cut in place, but I when I noticed it, I took that out, and it didn...

Yes, with an expensive outboard that was in for evaluation from a shop. Great fun! It was a cheap adapter plug that broke in. I hadn't bought them but they were left from some yonder year. Needless to say I threw every single one in the bin. I think I got the tip out with some tweezers. There's the ...
