Re: my studio is a total mess-- need some organization

If you've got an IKEA in the area - run, don't walk. The thing I love most about IKEA stuff is that since you build it yourself, it's real easy to modify to your needs. And it's cheap.

That and a Brother P-Touch so that you can label everything and find it again once you've "put it away". :o

Re: Hi! New here and question about guitar recording

Welcome to the AV club. Acoustic is usually the foundation for everything I write and as I've gotten decent at doing it, I find that I have some preferences but increasingly few rules. So many different things affect an acoustic guitar recording. Do a search, it'll turn up a book's wort...

Re: 1/4" Patchbay Question ???????????

Take the advice on the advice on the Neutrik. I didn't. I grabbed another el-cheapo brand - AP. It's a lot like the Neutrik with the flippable cards but the build quality ain't exactly top of line. The cards tend to come out on their own when I'm re-patching. It also doesn't have the detachable face...

Re: Why I love the L.A. homie guy

Okay -

What's the over/under on this guy getting booted from the board? I mean, the LA Homie thread was the funniest thing I've ever seen in the net, but honestly, he's a freshman at a school everyone goes to when they can't get into the U of I. Joke's over.

Move on, kid.

No kidding, not many!

This kind of covers the "controversy" from the EA site.

Re: so i just got all gear crazy...

Oh man, I didn't need to see this post today. I haven't been on a good buying binge in a year. . . I just found a guitar store here in Chicago (Make'n Music) that I wish I hadn't. Tons of high end and vintage guitar stuff. I know I'm coming home with a couple of Demeter pedals (Compulator!!!) but th...

Re: albini rates!! what the---???

He actually posted a message not too long ago on the Electrical forum in essence apologizing for the increase. Apparently they did a deep dive on the books and realized they were going to run out of money in the very near future if they didn't raise revenues. Considering they're almost always fully ...

Re: The Clash

Couldn't agree more on the CD re-issues - I not even real fond of the "re-mastered" CD but then I've got original vinyl and it's sublime. It's a wonderful record that valued passion over technique and amen to that! And don't get me wrong, I've got the other three records (Rope, London, Market) and t...

Re: The Clash

All right, this probably isn't going to be real popular - but . . . Rock the Casbah!?!? Man, you knew punk was dead and rotting in it's grave when the Clash started releasing novelty records. Really, does it get much more predictable or sophmoric than "Sharif . . . thinks it's not kosher"? The Clash...

Re: should i upgrade to digi 002 from 001 or get a nice pre

Hmmm . . . I struggled with the same question a couple of months ago - OTOH - I did know the A/D conversion in the 001 really bit it. I do a lot of acoustic gtr foundation tracks and the high end smear you get off of older convertors ( like the 001) as well as the undefined bottom always made me nut...

Re: anyone have an opinion on the Vox Tonelab?

Share some details on your settings going to your PathFinder? (amp/cabs/FX, mic, etc.) I've been underwhelmed trying to do pretty much the same - very muddy & unfocused. I've been big on straight DI with the Lab and I'd love to get some learnin' on some new tricks. I do like the PathFinder with some...

Re: sick for almost two weeks...

Had the exact same nasty little sucker for over two weeks. Same symptoms, same "Oh man - I'm really sick now, are all of those bad habits from my youth catching up with me?" paranoia. Like you I eat well, don't get sick a whole lot etc., etc. I figure it had a lot to do with work schedules. I'm on p...

My man! Ya got it and liked it. Nice little (well, not so little) box, eh? I won't even have to apologize your wife for leading you astray (wasn't there some comment about jumping off a bridge if someone else on this board told you it was a good idea). As far as the sound if you use it through an am...
