Those sounds from the 70s are all colored via transformers, and as you know the P1 is transformerless. So, I'd recommend microphones that have transformer balanced outputs. Look into each of the basic mic types: LDC, SDC, moving-coil dynamic, and ribbon. LDC: You might try starting with something li...

The new model has an internal PSU.

This might make perfect performance, but I really don't know for sure.

Look into the NHT M-00 (~$500/pair).

Tony Sanfillipo (hope I spelled his name right) reviewed them in TapeOp a couple of years ago.

What part of her body is that Popper Stopper connected?

It sure doesn't look connected to the mic stand.

You should consider Logic 8 Express for $200.

It's more than enough.

Pete, You mentioned banjo. I'm a banjo player, and the best mic I've found for banjo is the Beyerdynamic m201. It just slays on picked banjo, and I don't doubt that it would work just as great on clawhammer, if that is your thing. You can find them new for just under $200 if you shop around (or PM m...

$650 is a great price on the XLII

BTW, mine really likes to be paired with my Hamptone HJFP2. I think that mic's high-end really craves the smoothiness (roll-off??) from the transformers.
