Re: Lollapalooza cancelled.

I'm not sure what happened, but I'd bet $75 for the cheap seats had something to do with it. That and hip hop. Has anyone figured out how to do a hip hop show in a hockey arena? Tough gig for sure.

Re: The Lies of Michael Moore

Christopher Hitchens is an ass, but he was right about Kissinger. Michael Moore is a genius filmmaker. He gets the larger point across, and damn the details. This is like nit picking Dances with Wolves because it left out the ugly parts about the Sioux. The Sioux have been picked on for centuries, l...

Re: Lollapalooza cancelled.

man, someone sure fucked this thing up. look at that line-up! maybe everyone wanted too much cash? either way, I think the tour schedules of a bunch of major bands just took a summer detour. yowza. maybe they'll all go back to little clubs? btw - does anyone get excited about Flaming Lips anymore? I...

Re: Neu!

Neu! are one of my favorite prog bands, better than Kraftwerk imo. Anyone else here a fan of Magma? Freaky cool French prog/opera band that created their own language. Great stuff.

Re: Anyone fall in love with Mission of Burma all over again

Oh, man I love this band. They may be the quintessential "angry at my father" band, and for that I am eternally grateful (and, I guess, eternally angry at my father). I have not heard the new one. "New one"s just don't hit my radar as much as new bands right now. I am definitely going to check it ou...

Re: Is TAXI crap or what?

Right, but the real question is whether or not Elaine (Marilu Henner) and Latka (Andy Kaufman) ever *did it*. Man, was she ever a babe.

Danny DeVito, Kaufman, Christopher Lloyd. What a cast.

(sorry, I couldn't help it!)

Re: Quitting Coffee?

I have "Medulary Sponge Kidney" which means, basically, that I make kidney stones if I take in too much caffeine. I am not sure if any one else has had one, but kidney stones SUCK. Keeled over, sweat pouring out of you, gripping your side, screaming bloody murder, etc. etc. etc. It is pretty much th...

Re: i'm a nerd so i love books

This thread is by far one of the most entertaining ever. If there is ever a tapeop message board anthology (now that would be good reading) this thread is in. With that said, I recommend Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera, the Lord of the Rings trilogy (remember when that used to be obsc...

Yamaha MG24 - Recording Desk?

http://www.andysmusiconline.com/product_p/mg24-14fx.htm I have been looking at this board for quite a while, since seeing it at a local music store a couple of months ago. It has 16 channels, feels like a real desk, and I like the price. But ... all the literature on this thing makes it out to be a...

Re: Another "Victory for the Terrorists"

this is a very good thing. not only because of the extreme lameness of the ruling party, but because it shows that (in India at least) the poor can be a force to be reckoned with. India's economy is (apparently) the envy of central Asia. Globalization has been good to them, but the poor are still f*...

Re: Windows in the Control Room

does anyone have experience with the *kind* of windows I could use? I've been doing some research on how to build it, but I can't find much on which windows are best for listening. I was thinking maybe a bay window? what do you think?

Windows in the Control Room

I want to know what ya'll think about having a window to the outside (not the band space - the OUTside) in a control room. I have been bouncing around some of the build-a-studio sites, and there seems to be few, if any, outside windows in the control room. Is this smart, stupid, wha? I just want to ...
