Re: 757 maybe, just maybe, might not have hit the pentagon

why would they stage it? i don't get it - what's to gain by blowing up part of the pentagon and blaming it on the terrorists? wasn't the wtc enough?

as Jack McCoy would say, "we need a motive!"

Re: Studio Floor?

If you paint, you HAVE to use drylok, or something similar. Make sure it has the sand in it, or else put the sand in yourself. This is essential, otherwise the paint will quickly scatch off, or peal off, or whatever. The grit is as much for no-peal as it is for traction.

Re: a banner day for the forces of evil

this is like the stuff in the eighties when it was so bad you didn't even want to know about it - CIA sponsored death squads, Chile (well, that was the 70s, but whatev), Irangate. Here we go, back for more. I heard today that the EU and Brazil just signed a 10 billion$ trade agreement. This could be...

Re: Vote, for the love of... whatever. VOTE

I live in Illinois, I voted for Nader last time and I won't do it again. The Times this morning had an article where he (Nader) again was declaring that there is no real difference between Bush and Kerry. I understand the intellectual arguments about Israel, the Corporatization of politics, the Mili...

No, me, no one else gives a rats ass about "attacking states instead of terrorists" issue. Now shut up and stop posting in bold.

Re: Another BOLD typed posting! Yikes!

What? We can post in bold? Who knew? I'm gonna try it:

This is in bold.

Wow! How does an absolute newbie figure out the bold thing before me? Look:

Italics!

Underline!

This is amazing!

Someone please remind me to never do that again.

Re: Bush press conference

What happened to Truth? We are a "cesspool of warped thinking", but the guy (or gal!) can't even come back and stand up for him (or her) self? That's kind of lame. Does anyone else wonder why we are so obsessed with countries, when it is becoming painfully clear that the terrorists work outside of g...

Re: Bush press conference

This makes perfect sense, and is a difficult concept to grasp. I would recommend two great readings if you have the time. The first is "True and Only Heaven" by Christopher Lasch, which basically charts the rise of the Right as the Populist movement in America. The other is the current issue of Harp...

Re: Bush press conference

I have to say, and I really don't want to jinx this thing, but it certainly is starting to look like a democratic landslide. Historically, the American People finally figure a president out by the second election. As long as Bush continues to appear as a disgruntled, constipated President who is ann...

Re: Thanks, Mr Albini!

This article was originally printed in "The Baffler" - an excellent cultural/advertising critique periodical out of Chicago. Thomas Frank is the editor, and I have to say it is consistently one of the best reads out there. If only it came out more often ... I think the article can be read completely...

Re: Recording the Sea

I did this once while camping out on the olympic peninsula. I had my sony md recorder and the stereo mic that came with it. set it up with a fresh disc, on a rock, pressed record and went back to the tent. came back 74 minutes later and had the PERFECT headphone recording. I still listen to that thi...

Re: Bands only you seem to 'get'

The Danielson Famile! Almost NO ONE I know liked this band until I took "Chopping Block" on a cross-country youth group backpacking trip and we all listened after a five day overnighter. Suddenly it all made perfect sense, and now I have converted several adults and youth at my church to this "weird...
