Maybe I just did your mic on Wednesday. Is your last name a color? Anyway, I'm really happy with the way these are turning out. The mechanical aspects of the mods are totally dialed-in now and it looks like a factory-assembled product.

oh, and sounds sweet too!

Thanks for the props!

I've never had a SP C4 in hand, but I know it is a 20mm body diameter mic and thus will not fit my MJE-K47H which was designed for the 22mm MXL 603 and similar mics.

You're talking about Dave's 5840 (miniature tube) mod for the common 22mm SDC mics? If so, yes. The MJE-K47H sounds righteous in that set up.

Unfortunately, neither the Mojave MA-200 or Chameleon Labs TS-1 SDC bodies fit the MJE-K47H. I have not evaluated the Peluso or Lauten 22mm SDC bodies.

People keep asking me to modify their 4047 mics. I guess I should buy one and investigate why they have this request.

I seem to be developing this bad habit of giving things away (but, like many bad habits, it feels so good) ... ...I am so enamored of this new NT1a mod, I'll upgrade your mic for free Kingmetal. Just go to my shop, put the mod in your shopping cart, proceed to check out but don't pay once you reach ...

Busman is a well-known in the concert recording scene where he has devotees of his orange-painted, Chinese mics which are the same as the $49 Nady CM-90 etc. Its a "tribe" thing.

Thanks for the consideration! The stock LSD2 uses two K67-type capsules with its Neumann designed HF boost that was intended to be de-emphasized in the circuit that follows. The only mics with an MJE-K47 capsule are my own, and the mics I modify. That's a fairly tricky mic to work on and has to be c...

My ears were ringing...doh, incoming question I see! I've actualy modified quite a few Studio Projects mics, including a couple of LSD2 mics (love that name btw). I just been so busy I've fallen behind making dedicated product pages for quite a few mics. The LSD2 has a very clever mechanical design ...

wow. what a great pic! I've got an 1933 SS Stewart and a 1949 Orpheum - not really top of the line guitars in their time, more like working musician's guitars. In fact the Orpheum belonged to my mother in law's dad who was a big band rhythm guitarist. Both are very similar to Rawling's gtr. These gu...

I suppose you could hang onto it in its stock form and use it to record dialog for HF impaired geriatric...ah "senior" audiences.

I always hesitate to say yes until I've actually done something, but these are so similar that I'm pretty comfortable saying yes I can.

New NT1a Mod

I've completed an intense period of R&D and now have a new modification for the RODE NT1a - new, more open-area "67 / 87" style headbasket and MJE-K47 capsule. Sounds righteous with that low noise (5 dBa) circuit in this mic. No more sizzle, just classic midrange punch.

ah, yeah. Green with a freak'n faux gold grille. It really is too bad that mic looks like that because it doesn't sound that way.

Any cheapo eBay 2" "barrel type" shock mount will hold that mic and perform the role of aesthetic upgrade.
