Re: Online Guitar Lessons
I haven't used it but I know a bunch of bluegrass folks teach at https://artistworks.com/. They have a ton of video lessons and you can submit videos to get recommendations from A list players. Pretty good idea now that I'm actually looking at it.

FS - MBHO MBNM 608 CL
Asking $900, open to trades. Don't see these around too much. Workhorse multipattern LDC. Very straight up, sounds as it should with lots of proximity effect in cardioid. One hinge on the case keeps popping out. A couple of small (barely noticeable) flecks of missing paint on the grill. Plug and pla...

Re: people with consoles
I have a small Studer 962 that gets powered up/down regularly. Not quite the same, I know. I used to work with older (than me) generation folks who would have this debate. Arguments for leaving things on usually boiled down to "That's how this guy did it back at the studio I was at this one time" or...

Re: MD 409 in pieces
Always take it from the back, duh.
OK. I'm not having much luck with replacing the bodies, so how about this. What kind of foam do I get? This?

Re: Pro Tools 2019 Perpetual or Subscription?
+1 for perpetual vs subscription. What a money suck. I've had a perpetual license for at least a few years - theoretically if you use a perpetual license for 3 years you've saved $$$, depending on where you go from there. As kslight said, things with ProTools are not so awesome that you need the new...

Re: MD 409 in pieces
Excellent color recs. I'm all out of glittery violet, do you think semi-gloss violet will work as a theft deterrent? And what about the foam color???

Re: MD 409 in pieces
What is it that falls apart with your 409s? Just for clarity's sake, they could be put back together but I want them to actually look nice. Everything's a little warbly, original screws are long gone, scratches and whatnot on the bodies. A previous owner literally scratched his name into the side. ...

Re: MD 409 in pieces
Some pics. Seems like the capsule is wired straight to the XLR.

Re: MD 409 in pieces
Yeah, always loved this mic. Also on toms. LCD soundsystem uses them on vox. Pretty much anything you'd put a dynamic on, although I never tried inside a kick. Hmmm....
Will post pics soon. If I remember.

Re: MD 409 in pieces
Hm. I never inspected inside the stem part, but it seems like it's just the capsule wired to an XLR connector. Are you speaking from experience? See here, although I haven't researched the source yet:

Re: MD 409 in pieces
Just to clarify, the capsules sound fantastic but the mic bodies are falling apart. What would y'all do, snip the wires and into a 609 body? Anybody out there with unrepairable 409s that wants to make a few bucks?

MD 409 in pieces
Hey people, been awhile. Life and stuff. Anywho, I have 2 MD409s that I got a great deal on a while back, but they are literally falling apart. I want to put the capsules in a new home - I guess theoretically I could put them into a 609 body, but I'd rather they have some vibe. What say you good tap...

ATC SCM12 Consumer (not the new PRO model)
Heya folks. Probably the cheapest way into the ATC thing. Older SCM12 consumer model, since discontinued I believe. Thicker in the low mids, but goes way down in the frequency basement. Local pickup in BK or I'll ship if you pay. https://reverb.com/item/17727446-atc-scm12-consumer-not-pro-2007ish-ch...

Intern at Space Acres - Liberty, NY
Heya folks, it's that time of year again. I'm looking for an intern for a few things at the joint upstate this summer. If anyone wants to get their hands dirty with an MCI JH110 and Studer console give me a shout.

Re: What to do with a pair of NS-10s, half working
Seems prohibitively expensive to get new drivers and get everything running again. I'm inclined to go with the "Boat Anchor" analysis.
