You really show what you have got when the players are great, because you get to make it sound really, really good together. When the whole team is rocking,...

The WHITE eq's can be incredible with something acting as make up gain. Leave everything at "5" and then crank up whatever you are using to follow the eq. Especially if you are using them on the way in. Just set your levels with the insertion loss already present, then use the thing like it is boost...

I have used both. In General, a Plugin version of anything hardware will emulate the range of responses that the designer accommodates, and nothing more. That means that within a specific range of input/output, the plugin is very very much like the compressor it emulates, in theory. I have found tha...

We have the choice of almost every config around here... and if I use a cabinet/amp at all it is probably a little 25 watt tube amp I have through a single 15" EV. it seems to always, always work for whatever I need it to do. I just tune the amp a bit and choose the mic and go. Usually a BLUE mouse,...

Designing the routing for the low level cable runs, and how the work with the electrical runs was a fun puzzle (not sarcasm for once). Having to manage an electrical crew of a lot of guys is not the simplest thing, so the schematic and drawings had to be tight for that part of it. Walk through with ...

the 1/4" output has an IC based buffer stage. The XLR out is completely discrete. Thats the only difference.

The quality control on ALL the EH stuff is incredibly crappy, so I am not surprised that there are units out there that hum no matter how awesome the engineer....

I love the 12AY7. Its a great mic pre. Nthing in its price range even comes close at ALL. There is not one mic pre that is an all discrete audio path from input to output (XLR) that I have ever seen for a price even close to the inexpensive tag on the 12AY7. The concession made in the design phase w...
