I'm currently in the process of rearranging all of my gear in my modest studio and well the only decent place to position my rack is right in front of a power outlet. I wanted to know if this was going to be a problem as far creating unwanted noise or other problems.

thunderboy, thanks for the help, one thing though, when I asked what do you guys use to cut the holes, I know there are special tools. I wanted to know which ones (such as drills or drill presses, routers bandsaws etc...)

Two questions: I just wanted to clarify, I can use the copper wire to hook up the entire box right? And what do you guys use to cut the wholes in a hammond box to accomadate the XLR panel mounts?

Anything really, for instances, if I have a compressor that has balanced XLR and balanced 1/4 inputs, does it matter which one I use?

I was just wondering, is there any advantage in using balanced XLR plugs over balanced 1/4 plugs?

If I don't have inserts on my mic pre and I don't intend on running my signal through my board, can I take the balanced output from my mic pre and run that through a compressor or some other dynamic processor and then run that into my recorder?

Would someone be kind enough to tell me what are jumpers, what type should I get, and from where? Also to wire up a phase reverse box do I just use balanced mic/line cable or do I need something else?

The roland would have been good, but before I could bid, it was already sold. Any other recommendations?
