Re: truss rod adjustment

Man, if that initial post doesn't sound like an accident waiting to happen I don't know what does. Do not mess with the truss rod if you have no knowledge of them! I've been playing guitar for almost 30 years and I still won't futz with it. Now I agree I may be a bit overly cautious at this stage in...

Shure SM7: Your Opinions

I've been looking for a budget all-purpose mic and I've received a lot of great suggestions. I've heard a lot of great things about the Shure SM7 and I'm very intrigued. I would love to hear some of your opinions on this mic, for some reason I think this could be for me.

Re: Total Beginner - Gear Recommendations

Although four track cassette recorders are very cool their price just doesn't justify buying them. Some of them are more than $300. You can buy a digital 8-track for a little more money. I just saw a used Roland Vs-880 for $350 @ Guitar Center. If you already have a computer you could always get Dig...

I love Ween's version of "Gin & Juice"! They have the ability to totally nail whatever style they go after.

Rode NTV

What's the deal with the Rode NTV? I keep hearing about it. Ray Benson favors it over a U47?

How much do they go for?

Larry Graham used them with Sly & The Family Stone. Must be good for something other than just Rock. They are killer bass amps!!

Re: Hi-Watt Amps

Here is the deal with Pete Townshend's Hiwatt amps. Never before did I hear he used Hiwatt PA tops. The stage amplifier Pete Townshend used almost exclusively from 1970 to 1982. He began using the Hiwatt CP103 after using modified Sound City L100 amplifiers with Hiwatt badges, which he used beginnin...

Re: quick guitar amp question

Yeah the Hellhound is a great amp!!! I would think that Pete Traynor would have removed the tubes before throwing the amp out the window. Sounds fishy. As for amps with printed circuit boards being unreliable, tons of bands are using those Fender Deville amps and they seem to hold up. If you're trav...

Re: Hi-Watt Amps

If you want a Hiwatt then you want to get either a Custom 50 and Custom 100 DR series head. These are the original, early hand wired heads when Dave Reeves was around. Keep in mind that a 100 watt Hiwatt is REEEEAAALLLY LOUD!! Depending on where you're gonna be playing a 50-Watter is gonna be more t...
