I've been doing essentially that all the time in our new space, though sometimes additional amps end up on the other side of the room, or in one of the isos. It's amazing how well gobos can work. We actually set our ATC SCM50's up as a PA system mounted to the ceiling on either side of the drum kit,...

Yeah, I think those computer arms may react negatively with a speaker. For one thing most of them are hydraulic, and letting the low end flex against a shock absorber like that would probably seriously curtail the bottom. I'd just work with the space you've got. Picking stuff up and moving it around...

Limit the crap out of the middle and leave the sides nice an dynamic. Or alternately leave the center image alone and make the sides pump like crazy. MS and dynamics are really a wonderful combination. Verbs and delays can be fun for a trick though, especially when you're looking to make completely ...

8 tracks on 1/4" is the same as 16 on 1/2" - OK but not great. 8 track on 1/2" is the same as 16 on 1" - great but could be better. 8 track on 1" is the same as 16 on 2" - awesome. True. But using 8 tracks on 1" on a great machine at 30 ips? What's the point? May as well just go digital at that poi...

Kinda a leg over, but I have a pair of the RED LDC caps for MC-012 that they sold for a short period a few years ago. They sound pretty damn good actually. Only problem is that our MC-012 are basically just antennas in our new room. They're really the only ones causing a problem, so I just need to s...

little labs builds this thing: http://littlelabs.com/redcloud.html but just like the atty it's cash.
Just build some pads in to patch cables. You can build the whole thing in to a TS connector easily. It will cost you a couple bucks for connectors and wires and pennies for the two resistors.

For me it's more about the drum itself. As always that's the bottom line. But if we're talking about mics, it really depends on the sound the drummer is going for. With a heavier rock kick I usually go for a e602 inside and a (dare I say it) fet47 outside, but I've had really good luck recently usi...

My science of music professor, Mark Ballora, always cited a study that was done where they played a recording to test subjects that had all of its 20 kHz content in tact, and then they played the recording again with all of the 20+ kHz data cut off. The test subjects were able to identify which one...
