Re: What is this heavy Gold Star Studios Glockenspiel sound?
Nice! You nailed it, that's the sound. BUT, the one in Logic has a weird modulation to it and doesn't sound quite right, it's like out of tune. I can't quite figure out how to change it round in the sampler plugin that it comes from. any ideas? It likely has an effect on it. Logic Pro (Apple) love ...

Re: The dreaded Pro Tools upgrade
I pay half price for my PT update. How? I only buy it every other year. Also, by waiting that long, it feels like they actually added useful stuff to it. And bugs. More yummy colorful bugs. ;) I'm curious how that works. for me, the "support" is $199/yr, and if I were to let it lapse, it was going ...

Re: Monitor/Center Section
Do you have a tech that could take the center section only, or do a house visit? It might be expensive, but worth it. I have been using my Allen & Heath GL2800-32 center section forever, well, since 2008 when I bought it new. Rock solid console. If you have a 500 series bucket, I'd recommend you ge...

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....
From actual 1958 or is that just part of the model name? It's the model name. No way could I ever afford an original one, let alone in left hand LOL. Still, it was designed by the Gibson Custom Shop, and from what I heard online so far, I should be very happy with it. It replaces an old Ibanez Laws...

An Epiphone 1958 Korina Flying V (left hand). I ordered it thinking it would take until December to get to me, as they are in demand. Someone canceled their order, so their change of mind is my joy. Early Christmas present!

Re: mixing bass with hard snappy plucks
This makes sense too, but I also feel like this isn't just a gain/volume issue. Even if you turn down the transient, it's still there and is more manageable, but it's still not going to sound soft. Just quieter. I know what you mean. It's called "bass playing technique." haha, yes, the real s...

Re: mixing bass with hard snappy plucks
If it's inside your DAW: just select the offending giant click, and GAIN it down a lot. I do. Takes a few seconds, and you don't have to fiddle for minutes with plugins.
Just bring it down in level until it is no longer a concern.
