I've lost a screw from one of the pickups for my 70's Mustang Bass and I can't find a single damn place on the internet that will sell replacements. You should be fine to open it up. I've toured with three of these things and they've had all sorts of hacks to keep going, including soldering between broken parts of the logic board.
