You used the description 180? out of phase, which is a time-based measurement that is only accurate at one frequency. For example, a 180? phasse shift at 500Hz would be a delay of 1ms, not an inversion of the alternating current signal, and indeed at 1000Hz, that time-shift would be right back "in ...

I'm going to go ahead and say no, it's not possible to invert phase passively w/o a transformer of some kind. Well....a passive capacitor-inductor filter can theoretically do a 180 degree phase shift on an unbalanced signal, but only as long as there is no real resistance anywhere -- none in the sou...

Here are a couple of pictures: http://www.cc.utah.edu/~nwc4396/HPpad.jpg The first one would be around -20dB (a fraction of a dB more) nominally, then 3dB more down at 80Hz, and falling at just a bit less than 6dB/oct because of the 150 ohm resistor after the caps. Because the 750 ohm resistors are ...

Everything tough about figuring this thing's pin out from the pictures has something to do with that big black capacitor. the power connections and the input are for sure on the far side of the cap from the photo's perspective, and so the most important components for figuring that stuff out are blo...

FWIW...I just got a 1592b (unmodded), and it's a cool beast when pushed hard. Yeah, they're a nice little bargain. The unmodded channels are definitely cooler than the modded ones since they go through the summing/output amp for the extra gain and drive needed by a real mic preamp. I just like to m...

A "2 Watt" driver will probably not make you happy. I always wondered about using a "70 Volt" output from a PA amplifier for this task as well, but never tested the concept. My interest on that path began to fall apart when studios and musicians *required* a zillion separate mixes for each performe...

Nice work on this 1592b. I've read your posts here on TOMB about it and also read the Ebay item page. I just got a 1592b, and I'm planning on doing similar work to it. For modding the 1588s, do you have any advice for opening those cans gently? Also, if you didn't care about balanced output for the...
