Re: looking an uneven WAV files

*Edit* - Just realized the waveform that was posted is not the OP's waveform. Does yours look similar to that? *End Edit* I don't believe inter-track phase issues (across disparate instruments/waveforms that can never technically be phase-locked) would be capable of producing this "one-sided" offset...

Re: Need help from someone who is using an ART TPS II

I'd be willing to bet the other knobs are interchangeable and have the same shaft style (Gain, Impedance, output). Just use one to check it and see if the "V3" voicings" jive with the labels. Barring that, maybe send pink noise into it and measure the output? When it's flat (or very close) - that is...

Well, they compared an original recording (dunno what rate/bit depth this file was but assume something at least at 44.1k 24 bit) to .mp3 files running at 112Kbps, 56Kbps and 32Kbps. Sometimes the 112Kbps file scored higher than the original file. Virtually no one listens to .mp3s at those low samp...

Was a few months ago, but my work was throwing out some "written off" 20' ProCo "Lifetime" Mic Cables - BNIB! I was able to snag 71 of them scot-free. Sticker price of like $70/ea (I'm sure they sell for a LOT less). Also got two dozen EV "311" Mic Clips and three nice camera tripod stands. Amazing ...

It's a SandyBridge-E system, so not exactly cutting edge (2 generations old now? But the "higher end" LGA2011/X99 platform). I run with Hyper Threading off, and each of the 4 cores (yep, only 4) runs a full 4.7GHz on fairly quiet air cooling (Thermalright TRUE-120). Some of my plug-ins seem to benef...

Getting a handle on latency while tracking can be somewhat challenging, but I've been doing it for well over 5 years now (likely more), and only had 1 issue with latency - it ended up being Op Error! Everything I track is monitored wet through the DAW by all performers. You just need to know what th...

Cool form factor - That's a real "Box"! The API "BOX" is a wanna-be compared to your actual box :-)

Too cool

Bowie's Blackstar has tons of appropriate snare buzz from the high tom. I actually love it :-)

And lol - "I'm Painting Again" - you are certainly welcome for the de-basketballing tip

Yep..still can't stand the sound of that mic in the port hole.. it's basketball city and i guess it's because of the way the front head is set up (penny taped to beater impact point).. I've recently found the "Basketball" sound is more attributable to the bare wood shell inside the drum (think abou...

Just to toss additional options out there: I'm using a hard-topped cloud above my drum kit. It is 4'x8' and 12" deep, filled with fluffy pink, and topped with plywood - hung at around a 12* angle about a foot from the ceiling. This still damps direct reflections and controls a nasty low-end floor/ce...

Topic: Rumor: Apple dropping headphone jack

The rumor/theory is Apple will be getting in on the ground floor of the whole Audio VR revolution (where the rendered audio perspective follows your head position as your move), and nixing the analog HP jack will basically force this to happen much more quickly. This would also allow discrete surrou...
