Re: wow, the new interpol album is complete shit.
count me in as a second person who doesn't like either album. just found them utterly boring. the whole complete obvious raping of joy division /chameleons corpses really didn't help however. they just seemed like matador's entry into the hipsterdom of bands who wear le sportsac and stick-on numbers...

FWIW, Sopwith Camel (I'm gonna take a stab and guess it's the debut on Kama Sutra) is incredible! Great band from S.F.- quite like the Lovin' Spoonful as far as mixing light-psych rock with old timey elements, but a little more badass.

Re: I got a new piece of crap thats not crap at all!
yeah, pretty much. i have an l-100 i believe. it's cool but you know, if it breaks, you're looking at 2-3-4 times the amount you paid for it to have someone (and there's not too many these days) come to fix it. and with that many wires and tubes, things go wrong. the reverb on mine is a little flake...

As politely as I can- Does the world need another 'through the guitar amp' vocal sound??

Re: fugazi albums
They've been best at not sucking over such a long period of time (must be around the 15 year mark by now). Maybe because they didn't release a grunge album, an album featuring Drum N Bass samples, and won't go on to make anything that sounds like Gang of Four/New Order this year. SO FUCKING tired of...

gotta love that first, classic 'presumably arguing' picture. no doubt Paul is saying something along the lines of- 'no matter which way it's panned, sounds best in mono, mate'.

Re: VON LMO and "crappy" recordings
It's kinda like the Chrome album that Tape Op gushed about for a full page a few years ago- mindblowing sonics, recorded like shit. Stylistically pretty much on the same page, too. Just makes me appreciate weird major label recordings that much more.

Did anyone else actually find and listen to the song?
Very outdated sounding arrangement and totally overdramatic vocals- even for Pop/Euro standards.

Re: Famous examples of drum sounds that AREN'T compressed
You know, I've heard the No-Compression thing before in regards to Shellac and Steve Albini.
But if I was going to try and duplicate that sound (and I never have) it would be nothing but ambient mics and lots of compression. Am I way off the mark?

Re: Famous records featuring the Stratocaster
Oh I believe another tasty beatles song that features the dueling Strats is 'And Your Bird Can Sing.' Careful listening reveals that it's not, as many would believe, a 12 string.

Re: Famous records featuring the Stratocaster
Pavement - indeed a strat for the majority of the stuff... later on Stephen picked up a Les Paul w/ p90s but it's kinda remarkable how similar the sounds really were ... especially through that Orange... Television - Richard Lloyd, being that much more conventional of a player, stuck to strats and t...
