sounds like there are some really weird, passive agressive communication issues at work here. I don't know if it's because of you or your ME. But, the first thing that I'd do is find a ME that you feel comfortable discussing these things with. interesting. Is this because I didn't quibble with him ...

Update: my guy just called me to tell me that he's got another reference for the clients. He told me he heard the EQ issues that I had heard and that he checked the whole program once he'd fixed them. And he's not going to charge me for the revision. I'm not sure how to take this last part. He's nev...

Looks like it has ADAT outs on it. Are they full, 8-channel ADAT or just optical SPDIF? If it is a multi-channel out, you should be able to dump 8 tracks at a time. The EMU 1212 has ADAT ins and outs and includes onboard DSP. But be prepared to spend some time dealing with routing your audio. http:/...

If you start to see commonalities between Professor Longhair and Mozart and between Lightning Hopkins and Segovia you'll see there's little difference between these musicians. +1. V7 resolving to I has less to do with culture than it does with some weird features of human psychology that we all sha...

Not sure if this accounts for the Meters and, by extension, late 60's James Brown. I think these artists have more in common with Robert Johnson than they do with Ray Charles. And by that time are perhaps more with funk than soul. But they each funk with soul, undeniably, and that's what the OP is ...

In addition to Sting's tinnitus, if you watch the rehearsal scenes from Bring On The Night (esp. the ones where he is working with the background vocalists), you can clearly see and hear that he is a complete douche.

I'd also postulate that music based on sampling rather than real instruments is inherently less inclined toward innovation-- it's dependent on mining and reworking the past. That's like saying the power chord is played out :D Seriously, for every kid with and MPC who is still mining George Clinton'...

If you look at this with the whole of 20th century American music as a backdrop, I think you can say that there is something unique going on starting in the late 70's/ early 80's. Generally, it goes like this: 1. African American music gets co-opted/re-interpreted by white artists operating at frin...

He was cool. When I explained that I was hearing these EQ bumps, he said, "That ain't right". From my discussion with him, I understood that the EQ's are automated and something must have happened to the curves. I was even trying to keep things short, considering that I may not be hearing what he in...

Thanks. My biggest concern is to avoid making it too obvious that I don't think he listened to the reference cd. Which I'm sure he didn't, because I assume if he did, he'd have called the clients to say, "Hey, throw out that cd, I've got another one for you".
