I'm waiting for someone to give me a pile of Sm57's, a 4-track Tascam and say, "Make an album." I could fucking do it. Hmm... I have one SM58 and a Tascam 3track (one track lost courtesy of a friend). You can come and just track one song for me. :) I can draw some acoustic treatment on the walls. I...

Well, my kids got so many toys they don't know what to do with themselves anymore. hahah I got my wife a new stereo for her minivan. For me: headphone amp, DI box, Weller soldering station, multimeter, cordless drill and various small tools, electronic Sudoku, Rubik's cube (hoorah!), Rubik's on a ke...

Ethan, would you use the same type of ceiling treatment if the ceiling was shaped like an 'A'- basically a flat level part with slanting sides. My living room is shaped like this. In some spots I get that nasty ringing echo. I would like to put something up, but I need to make it look nice since it ...

Thanks! I'll check out some semiconductor sites. PDFs are great, though I much prefer extended reading in printed form. I don't mind forking out for good references. I suppose I could always print the PDF myself, but I wonder what it would cost compared to just buying a nicely printed copy. Too bad ...

Cool. I am interested in general DiY, with a focus on audio projects. I suppose I'll have to stick to websites and forums for that. I'm interested in learning to build preamps as well, though I imagine there is a difference between building a pre for stereo and one for a mic? It still sounds interes...

Thanks for the feedback. So, despite not being entirely dedicated to DiY recording, would you still suggest audioXpress as a good mag for me based on what I described? I have read one extra article on their site which was cool, but I want to check out some of the others.

Is this a new album from Tobin? I absolutely love his music. My wife and I went to see him perform a few years back when 'Out From Out Where' was new. We briefly met and got him to sign my album. I have been a fan of his for several years. The rhythms, melodies, textures, layers... it all gets my mi...

Ah yes, I've been lurking the Prodigy forum for quite some time now. I know there are a lot of great websites and books out there for reference (by all means feel free to suggest more), but I'm mainly looking for a casual read, as a break from my books and the heavy reading I do online. It's the sam...

The NEET manuals look nice.

I have the Art Of Electronics book, but not the manual. What I didn't like about the book was that there is no answer key. The two books I am working on now have keys. I still plan on using AoE as a reference now that I understand some things.

audioXpress and DiY mags

OK, so I have been really immersing myself with electronics reading. I've finally made time to begin going through my books (currently Basic Electricity to be followed by Electronics). I'll be getting my first couple of tools (Weller WES51 and an Extech EX330) for Christmas. I've been understanding ...

That's pretty cool. My phone has a remote feature, but it doesn't show the monitor on the phone screen. That would be much nicer. Mine just allows me to control the mouse.

Re: wow so here's what i learned tonight!

This is my preemptive reply- meaning I have not yet read all the replies but I will. This is my reply to the initial post. i can't say that i've really gotten really good recipies to try out. It's interesting that you make the analogy with a recipe. I worked as a cook for ten years, and still enjoy ...
