I've been listening to Yellow House for a few months. Great record, kinda like all the things I like about Animal Collective without all the things I don't like. But then I went and saw them live, and it kind of ruined it for me. They're an absolutely amazing live band, and they do the tightest four...

You should totally do it! Tape is a lot of fun (especially when you're not married to it), and it's a great thing to have around when you're sick of everything sounding so damned clean. A 4-track is pretty useful too....

Isn't it amazing how much a great drummer can do for a track?? The drumming is really wonderful, I'm sure that's one of the reasons that three mics were enough. What did you use to distort them? I really like this mix, it's sonically interesting without seeming gimmicky. Same with the arrangement. ...

I like the jittery "drumming" and the keith riff, the fuck all attitude. My one suggestion: have the bass play more of an anchor role. Right now it's a little to free ranging.

That was an adventure. Great atmosphere with just enough melody to make me want to disect all the crazy/cool stuff going on. Very nice.

Really nice piece of work. Lots of twistes ad quirks, never gets boring. Perhaps that's a bad thing though, I don't know, I couldn't remember it after listening to it, didn't stick. But I still like it, needs a bit more listening perhaps. That's always the danger with doing something like this. Hop...

Wow, that's the kind of thing I've been expecting to come out of these boards. I really dig that song, as a bit of constructive critisizm I think the part with the ping pong echoed "Song" or "Sun" was a little harsh. As an obscure instrument lover I definatly approve! Sweet, thanks. Hmmm. That part...

Oh, and I'm impressed that it sounds like a real band in a room, though apparently there's only two of you - that's a tough goal to achieve. Good work! Now, is it going to take you 3 months to do another? That's the nicest thing you could have said. Exactly what we're going for, at least on the roc...

All of these these things and more in: Call Off the Dogs (Right On) We spent weeks working on this, off and on. I won't say how many. Nothing fancy for recording equipment, but a good deal of nice instruments. The players are some guy named Sam and some guy named me. edit: just looking for some more...

Hey Brainfreeze, I am in a DAW, so I simply record the side mic to two tracks, one normal and one phase reversed. You can pan the side mic tracks hard left and right or bring them in some depending on how wide you want the image. I haven't tried moving the mid mic around, as I think the point of it...

This is a new technique for me. I tried it on some reamped tracks over the weekend, and it sounded pretty cool, but I couldn't quite get the panning right. Looking over the links Chrisbrownsound included earlier in the thread, it seems that there is a pretty defined method, but I don't think I quite...

Been listening to this one all week. It's at least his most consistant, and it might be his best. Sounds like the voice of god, of course.
