I looooooove Pilot Error. I have been wrong so many times it doesn't bother me anymore, and fixing Pilot Error is easy and free! So much better than having a malfunctioning piece of gear.

Alison Krauss, Auto-tune addict
Man, Alison Krauss is on a PBS music program this late Saturday night here in Cincinnati. I can't believe how blatant her pitch correction abuse is. It sounds like her singing is just an input into a synth. I've thought that about her in the past. It is unseemly to me for bluegrass types to use Auto...

Yeah, you guys are right. My rant was mostly a reaction to the idea that someone had derided some music because of it's structure, for theoretical reasons. I guess this is the kind of over emphasis on the intellectual side of music that bugged me. I do believe in learning theory and have an above av...

To stomp through the path that the posts had laid in a more subtle fashion, musicology is shite. Use your ears, you dumbass musicologists. I once read somewhere that music should be "listened" to with the brain, not the ears. What crap. These people should do something useful with their lives. Over ...

... I think there is a certain kind of pretentiousness that goes with the whole DIY thing. Recording is very very affordable nowadays. Deerhoof does not need to record at such a shoestring level. I could be wrong, but I don't recall any aesthetic reasons for their recording methods.... Well, someti...

OK, please allow me to be a contrary kind of jerk. I felt a certain kind of frustration while reading the Deerhoof article. My thinking is this: If Deerhoof the band produces music that is worthy of a significant following (I'm talking committed rock fans), worthy of praise from smart people like Ta...

Sorry my bad for spelling it wrong. It is Xpand! Here is a link to the Digi site- http://www.digidesign.com/index.cfm?navid=71&langid=100&itemid=4784 Try your local audio dealer where they might have some discs. I paid postage and handling for mine and then found out there was a big stack of them ju...

More Sounds for Digi Expand! ?
Hey-
I am pretty new to midi and I use Digi's Expand!. I'm wondering if there is any way to get more and different drum sounds in there, or if that is totally dependent on Digi offering such a thing.
I obviously know little about how sample programs work-

Hey- I can't be of too much help as I didn't use it that much. I was impressed with the build and everything, but really only used it in cardioid pattern for vocals. It sounded great, but wasn't a great fit for my bandmate's voice, unfortunately. I sold it to a buddy with a different voice and he lo...

YESSSS!!!!!!!! :D I tried using the USB and the midi at the same time and it WORKS!! Thank you Pulse- USB goes to trigger GPO in Pro Tools, and the Midi out goes to Yamaha which now faithfully plays along. No latency out of the Yamaha, and I don't have to buy anything. I just didn't think that the U...

The hitch with just using the Yamaha is that it doesn't have a mod wheel. A sensitive artiste such as myself needs to have all nuances of expression at his fingertips.... If I had a sound producing device with a mod wheel I would be rockin. I've had no success getting the 002 to spit the performed m...
