Re: vintage high end military equipment

To heck with secrets, this is the only "vintage high end military equipment" I'd ever want in my audio arsenal:

Re: favorite obscure covers!??

I love the Meters doing the theme from "Hang 'Em High." It's kinda like Spaghetti Western organ funk. S'nice.

Re: Microphones used on Zeppelin songs

I used to think that my Led Zeppelin CDs (the remastered ones, 2, and 4, and grafitti primarily) were the best recordings I owned and used them as mix references. One day, while trying to analyze the production techniques of "Heartbreaker" on headphones I realized that these recordings are all pret...

Re: Mic Pre Question

Hello everyone -- Sorry to hijack this thread, but I have a problem with my brand new mixing board. I can't get any sound to come out. On this board there are "Mute" buttons above every channel, and first thing I did when I got it, I made sure I turned them all off -- they're all lit up red now and ...

Best thread since the "What's that sound in the beginning of "Tom Sawyer"" thread which went on for like pages and pages and pages...

Wish I knew about the "Ghostbusters" synth array, dying to know actually!

Re: John Bonham hour

Anyone wanna venture a guess as to what we're actually hearing in these files, i.e., is this the drum faders with effects from the board, or, someone else's after-effects job? The 'verb sounds suspiciously 80's to me. Just a guess, but if it sounds '80s remember that these tracks are mostly from 19...

Re: Anyone Know About Wurlitzer Organs W/ Mulit-Matic Percus

If you want to ask a question about whether to buy an organ, and you want information, Catoogie, it wouldn't hurt if you included the model number, or even a picture. There are lots of different Wurlitzers. There are Wurlitzers with Multi-Matic percussion that are like granny home organs, and there ...

People are yelling and hurling insults around and stuff. It's very aggro. Aggro is really in this year.

Re: Pacific Pro Audio R-one Ribbon engraving and logo

Personally, I think the rooster thing literally screams out "I just bought this cheap ass knock-off ribbon mic for really cheap from China" when I look at it. I also think that if I were Larry or the other Tape Op Publisher guy (whose name slips my brain), I would damn well want to know that these m...

Re: Re-recording a great (or not so great) album

I think it'd be interesting to go back in the time machine and get Neil Young to re-cut Trans with a more traditional NY style and instrumentation...and when he first brought in the demos of the songs, I'd be like, "these are good songs, but write another fifteen more and then we'll talk about whitt...

Re: Eyeglasses and vision and stuff

I had a cane for half a week when I threw my back out earlier this month. I liked it. It made me feel important and eccentric. Canes are sweet, Dr. John has been rocking the cane for many years now. It makes him look completely insane in a very groovy way. http://www.woundedbird.com/drjohn/270.jpg ...

We should all band together and each send Drew a random fifty cents or a dollar via Paypal. He can take the money and upgrade some gear he needs, and then sell the old stuff to us! Everybody wins!

Re: Eyeglasses and vision and stuff

In all likelihood, you will probably live through an eye exam at Wal Mart, Wing. Also it's good to keep in mind, that many people with eye problems have not only rocked hard (John Lennon, for one, was apparently blind as a bat), millions of them have led healthy and productive lives, and many of the...
