One of the most important things I've learned at my job is how to pump out a rough mix in a small amount of time. It might seem like a shitty rough mix might damage your reputation, but in my experience it's easily outweighed by the positive effect of doing a quick, effective rough mix in front of s...

It's hard to find new ground to cover Great, now my scene is going to be flooded with fucking amateurs undercutting my nursing home special. Thanks alot. I've been thi...

Also, any ideas for exploiting the insane gear list that we have? find what no one else is doing or recording, and g...

I'm not too cool for anything, I'm just trying to limit the conversation to this: you have to see where your market is, and go for that with a gentle aggression. or come up with your own market. Everything else you said is completely off topic. Not to say it is untrue, but I'm not particularly inter...

The studio I intern for runs a website/tv show and hosts free shows at a local venue. People vote for their favorite band and the studio gives the band a free 4 hour session...which usually means the bands end up booking some more time as well. Plus the feature bands they record on the tv show. Rea...

Studio Promotion

Recently I have found myself in the unique position of trying to book a top notch studio. Throwing parties (a la Welcome to 1979) seems like a great idea to spread the word, but I'm sure there are other creative ways to entice people to your house. What is everyone doing to get the word out?

I'll throw LoHo's hat into the ring. See thread here:

It's a larger space for bigger projects. Probably not as cost effective if you just need to do overdubs, although that is more than welcome.
