I'm in and can pay, as long as it doesn't mysteriously jump to more than around $150 for both.

59?

Re: Pacific Pro Audio R-one Ribbon mic?

I actually was wondering who was going to make all those trips to the post office.

I for one would definitely trek to NYC, especially if say, a beer night ever happened.

Hey if this goes off, we should try it with other stuff! How much are Distressors if you buy SEVENTY?

Re: Guided By Voices--what's their deal, anyway???

i can still remember hearing GBV for the first time, the summer, maybe like 96/97, riding on the passenger seat of a Honda CRX, you know, the really foul cockroach-hatchback? it was a 'real' cassette of Bee Thousand, and I was thinking, man does this tape sound worn out.... but I loved it, and I too...

Re: Pacific Pro Audio R-one Ribbon mic?

I've had my Nady about a week, like it enough so far but really need a real preamp for it.

If I group buy ever happens I could certainly swing $140 for two more.

pscott,

the tapes he uses were 'remastered' on a low budget Sound Forge setup. that counts as 'sampled' to me.

Re: Sequential Circuits Six Trak

if you listen to aphex twin, a matrix 1000 plus some cheap digital reverb boxes, were more or less his sole source of pads and washes, in the early days. think Selected Ambient Works II. that record might as well be an Oberheim demo.

Re: say WHAT?!? new mellotron?

i guess, realism. they could have only sampled 4 notes, and pitched the rest, or looped the samples post attack. but, you know, accuracy calls.

Re: say WHAT?!? new mellotron?

also, man that Buchla looks cool. But the model as shown is like $13,000. For a hybrid synth, that's kinda nutty.

Re: say WHAT?!? new mellotron?

Ah, yes. One of my favorite instruments. I actually just attended a little uh, workshop, strictly about mellotrons. A huge nerd-fest. But they had several on hand, getting to play one was pretty amazing. There are actually two companies that partially own rights to make mellotrons. I don't know the ...

Hey, thanks for the review. I was looking into the one channel mini guy. Still kinda on the fence. Is that you playing electric, btw? Really nice in that Richard Thompson vein.

Re: Equipment you HATE but everyone else seems to LOVE

ipod: turning the backlight off helps alot. also, not using shuffle or constantly changing songs helps too. but it's not great battery life. it always runs out when i'm driving somewhere and i have nothing else to listen to. look, PRSes are not my style, at all, but they're very nice guitars. they s...
