Re: sm7b died help!
yes - worked the switches. it doesn't seem like a contact issue - there's not even a whisp of audio passing through, it's actually super weird!

Re: sm7b died help!
Today it stopped passing audio - I did all the obvious stuff - swapped cables, pres etc... opened it up at the jack and inside to look for any obvious broken connections or cold solder joints - it all looks totally fine. what CAN die component-wise in a mic like this? I would love to get it repaire...

Re: Recomend Me a Good Trem Pedal
i've owned several (voodoo labs, diamond and something else i'm forgetting) but the Flint smokes em all IMO - looooove the harmonic trem especially - and I bought for a similar reason - using a blues jr live and the reverb sucks on it - and has no trem. it's a really classy and simple pedal compared...

is there delay plugin like a delta lab effectron?
I have many delay plugins and pedals and some tape echos - but nothing quite like a effectron - googling led me nowhere - any one know of anything close?

Trying to stop bass will be near impossible unless you float the floors and do other major ($$$) investments.
703 will do next to nothing to stop low end vibrations

Re: SM-7B and LA-610
the 610 preamp with sm7 is a great combo. i have a solo 610 and use it with sm7 and in my opinion is an extremely underated mic pre. I use it and my great river on nearly all my lead vocals (and i have some other really nice choices - capi heider, chandler tg2 and germ - silver bullet, electrodyne 5...

tips for mixing a live recording - using gates etc
I am mixing a live show and wondering if there are any particularly transparent gate plug ins for muting channels that aren't active (vocal mics in particular) or if it's better to just draw in a bunch of automated volume cuts...

anyone working at 96k?
I have recently done some upgrades to my recording rig so that I can start working at higher sample rates (been limited to 48k until now). I also watched this video today https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RN1pSy1sWN4 which now has me thinking about the possible benefits of even upsampling lower res pr...

Re: let's talk monitoring / accurate sound reproduction for mixing
i could hear the higher frequencies when played back on friends speakers over my iphone! Of course, the iphone is a very trebly device--it's going to accentuate high-end stuff. Nonetheless.....it'd probably be worthwhile to figure out what frequencies exactly you're losing--is it everything over fr...

Re: let's talk monitoring / accurate sound reproduction for mixing
I think what others say about testing both your outputs from your console AND the inputs of your ears are good ideas. Not to throw a HUGE WRENCH into this, but have you also considered a DSP solution. There are a lot of them out there that seem to work really well. My new monitors are using a Dayto...
