API A2D line in question

Last month I bought the A2D and it's been as good as I'd hoped it would be. I misplaced the manual and had a quicky question for those familiar with this unit. I tried mixing through my board then running the mix through the A2D then out via aes/ebu into an old 888. Sounded great, question is.. The ...

R 121
421
AT4047
and the little super cardioid EV408 or 9? can't remember

super bored with 57, the 421 is so much better in most every case

did a session last night over 10 year old AMPEX tape, it sounded really good. did make me question the RMG formula, to be fair I did recycle one reel 12 times... but there was a lot of oxide on the heads and I think the highs left it.

best reverb plug in

Ok forgive me if this has been run into the ground, but I did do a search and didn't really get an answer. Best reverb plug for a ProTools HD system? Need to purchase for work. This isn't a debate about plugs vs. real plates, springs whatever...just the best plug. I'm using the WAVES ren. plug right...

I have a set of the KM184's and a set of the MK012's with the mod.The only time I used either mic for electric guitar was on a small amp, like my vibro champ. My reasoning is small amp, SDC should work and it sounds pretty good - physics. Big amp, Nah no way...it's a 421 or 121 for me. I like both m...

The Tape Op Ribbon a few years down the road, how U use it?

Well it been a few years now and I still own 3 of those group buy Tape Op Ribbons. Though I use one all the time on mono drum overhead I discovered the killer application (for me at least). Recording live. I like to have one up close stage left, one stage right and one over the drums. If you have a ...

Best tripod stand

OK, this isn't to sexy but I'm about to do some purchasing for a place I work at. I'm buying some new tripod style boom stands. I've been through quite a few in my day but can anybody pipe in which they think is the best most durable brand. You know, the type that doesn't strip out fall apart and wo...

neumann used to have that ad with the km184 on a desert island saying it was the one mic to have, so it must be true lol.

me, maybe a pair of 4047's, though my MJ Octava MC012 with the redcaps and 3 stock caps could give me alot of choices.

Uncle Ben's instant white rice. stick your stuff like mic's in a bag of rice for 3 days before you plug it in. It absorbs moisture, it really works. Almost good as new.

Sorry to here about it. water damage sucks, good luck.

"crafted in china" thats an oxymoron. not that I am racist and dont think Chinese can make anything of value. I love my chinese china and my chinese cleaver (still sharp after 10 years!) but guitars are just not part of their culture the way they are to us western folks. Now if they are $100 or so ...

I bought 2 ebay MC012 for that RED cap deal, I wanted them to be matched so I did have them modded by Mr. Joly. I can't say I was that familiar with them before because I had just purchased them but I was very impressed with the results and have used them again and again professionally when my KM184...

If you have a core card and 3 farm cards then you are out of PCI slots. if you need more PCI slots for something, you need an expansion chassis. if not, you should sell it. OK OK I know I'm being lazy asking this but, yes I have an older mac with 4 slots They are all taken up, what does the expansi...

EXPANSION BAY how does this sucker wok

I've been using older PT 24 system (888 and an 882) at home for awhile now with OS 9 and its a moneymaker, that system is just stable and won't be upgrading. At work we use the HD system and my partner asked me if I want the old expansion bay, how does that thing work? I've got PT24 card and 3 farms...
