True stereo is very different from panned mono. Stereo sounds 3-dimensional because both sides of the image "hear" each sound differently (not just higher or lower in volume, but also delayed, revervbed, off-axis, etc.) just like your ears do. You can create a stereo image from mono sources by (for...

Re: live solo/looper setup

I'd like individual inputs for A, B & C. Sounds like you need a small mixer. One effects loop that can be used with A, B, & C; together or independent. A small mixer with at least one aux send. Individual outputs for A, B & C. A small mixer with at least one aux send and an alt out of some kind. I ...

I felt that "Recording Techniques" was more appropriate. Didn't see your post there as I didn't look. Wasn't trying to steal your big moment.

Every knucklehead I've ever had on my crew has been broken of the over-under habit right quick. Fine for long cables that hang on the wall for weeks on end, but that crap has no place in live production. Except for a figure-eight when coiling feeder and multicore.

On the road!

I think Shudder to Think's Pony Express Record is the finest road trip record ever. I'm always hearing something new, and it's seriously fun to sing along to. It has gotten me across the country a few times with nary a moment of boredom.

Yours?

Except, of course, for those situations where it is not.

Live sound... Indeed. I love my i5 in the studio but live I often find myself putting it up, frowning, swapping in a 57, and smiling. If you are positioning the i5 as you would a 57, then you'll never like it. It takes some experimentation, but it's worth it. jt I've definitely seen that on snare, ...
