Just have fewer people clap. If everyone claps it can be to much. if one out of three members clap, you get the feel and effect, with out hammering the pre. Wish I could. But we've decided this live take is the keeper. So much else about the take is right. Right now we are carefully riding the choi...

limiter maybe... maybe a multiband with the HF only? or maybe a transient designer? that would probably work the best to just bring down the leading edge. j We've tried a couple limiters and haven't had good results. That is why I'm wondering if there is some sort of new gen 'look ahead' that takes...

Limiter or technique to handle claps?

Live tracks of a choir. Claps are hammering. We are thinking it'd be best to go for a look ahead. Any idea of something to tame the claps?

Just wired my first D-25 snake!

Just wanted to report to a group of peeps who might be able to appreciate this.

8 pr mogami. Damn, working on that D25 piece was a bitch. It looked pretty gawd awful when I was done. I won't get any prizes in aesthetics. But the cable actually works and sounds great.

Two hours.

this is awesome...like going to confession.... When I got my otari a band was really really pumped to track to tape for the first time. I was single then. They took over the whole house for a long weekend. Amps, cables, mics, guitars, drums everywhere. We were tracking some really really great stuff...

Nice. Now that I think of it, I was turned on to the idea by the Future Music video interview of Kieran Hebden (Fourtet). I'm sure tons of those kinds of remixers do this stuff. I'm just prone to take a new idea and overuse it without thinking about the possible consequences. So yeah, the apple shif...

pitch shifter on kick

Its been too long. I miss the TOMB. I hope everyone is well. I'm still plugging away on a record that has been 4+ years in the making. It is somewhat experimental at least in the sense that I'm not worried about translating realistic sounds. Most of the sounds have been filtered or mangled in some w...

yeah, you're right. RMS normalization would alter signals, but most of the time people talk about normalization, they mean Peak, as I assume the OP was. Yeah, I've been thinking about peak, not RMS. And subatomic, kudos to getting set up with a shared space with Trent. I think that is what you've g...

I've never been a big fan or normalization... It seems like it unnaturally compresses everything to my ears, but maybe I just haven't done it right. impossible. normalization is merely a "dumb" maximization of volume to just below 0dBFS. it should not alter the waveform in any way. See...this is wh...

thanks guys. I have a pretty good limiter in my Metric Halo DSP that I've been trying to do this with. I'm just getting impatient and I worry too much about imparting some junk by working the limiter too much.

I'll give it another try.

PEACE

Shit shit...! I've tried to stay the hell away from the L2 just because some people get a bit crazy with it. I've always left this stuff for the ME, but this is a big project and I've got a handful of people who I want to hear it before sending it out to the pro ME. Well, when its all done I may jus...

Normalize tracks? Software?

Long story that I won't bore anyone with, my point is that I'm in a situation where I need to do a basic mastering job myself before i pass around my mixes. And this is the first time that I really need to have a really consistent volume to each song. I'm basically trying to get some feedback from s...
